Got great summer holiday recommendations? Come and write a review!

Whatever the weather is doing where you are, it's an empirical fact that summer is on its way. So - can we tempt you over to Reviews to share your summer holiday recommendations?

We'd love to be as helpful as possible to those MNers who are mulling where to go on their hols, or what to read by the pool/lake/campfire; not to mention those who are frantically searching for pondering lovely days out during the - how to put this? - 'lengthy' school break.

So do cast your mind back to half-term or last summer for your top tips - whether it be a 'heartily recommend', a 'so-so' or an 'avoid at all costs'. You could be the making of another MNer's summer - or at the very least, save them the price of a disappointing holiday/day out/novel/fake tan product.

If you'd like to write or browse some summery reviews, here's where to start - and do let us know if you do so here on the thread.

Thanks,

MNHQ x

allow DCs some down time if possible, no need to have something amazing to do every day, it's their holiday too

Whilst busy trying to enjoy the sun, when we have some that is lol, rather than writing shopping lists for those salads and bbq food, take a pic on your phone of whats in the fridge, then when u go shopping and you enevitably forget your list, look on your phone at the pic and you'll know exactly what you have and havnt got xxx I'm a newbie to mums.net, so would like to say hi to everyone xxx

Plan a picnic. It's something everyone can get involved in - nice easy salads, dips, etc, assign tasks to the clan in order of difficulty and its fun when everyone gets involved.

And take a nice loaf of bread - much nicer to cut it up there and have with cheese or houmous so there's no risk of soggy sandwiches.

And finally - if it rains then take it indoors and make it a carpet picnic! Still fun :)

Music, music, music for the journey. Music to drown out the crying and demands mainly. Call us selfish but we dont give any nursery rhyme cds car space.....the 'wheels on the bus' makes dh headbutt the steering wheel. Our playlist for our little roadtrip will be They Might Be Giants (they are cool and the kids love them. If you have not discovered them yet then you are missing a treat) and Rumpus in my Rompers (it's a winner and dc dont make us skip tracks - it is actually for dc but I think we might love it a little bit more). We will not be listening to any pop party/disney/high school poosical........

:)

I've tried to write a review of a campsite in Europe in the Travel reviews section, but when I press "continue", it shows me a list of campsites and asks if it's one of them.

When I say no, it just goes back to the start again.

Can I only review a campsite that's already on there???? Confused

KateMumsnet · 01/07/2012 15:59

Hmm, that doesn't sound right at all jamaisjedors - we'll investigate pronto, and thanks for letting us know.

Hello again jamaisjedors

The tech team have had a look and can't seem to replicate the problem. Could you possibly let us know which campsite you're typing in, and we'll try again? Feel free to email [email protected] if you'd rather!

Ok, have just tried again. I was typing in the name of the campsite plus where it was - probably too long. I just tried now with just the name and it's fine! sorry!

KateMumsnet · 01/07/2012 18:28

Oh good - thanks for letting us know, and of course for taking the time to do the review in the first place!

review done!

prettybird · 01/07/2012 21:21

Not sure I want to do a review about where we go - other people might find out about it and it would get busy. WinkGrin

prettybird · 02/07/2012 11:32

Actually, just checked and I already did one 3 years ago :)

We like it so much we are going back this year for the 8th time - even though there is nothing special for kids to do so ds has to learn to entertain himself by reading and playing in the pool Grin
