Im finding it quite annoying not to be abe to quote ,it also makes posts confusing when someone copies another persons post as a quote but it looks like its part of their post .The majority of forums I use allow quotes just wondered why this one doesnt??

Because you always get idiots who don't trim the quote to delete unnecessary stuff. And then you get people quoting the quote which creates more unnecessary text.

LadyTeeAndBiscuits · 04/06/2012 14:11

You can quote other people's posts. Like this:

"The majority of forums I use allow quotes just wondered why this one doesnt??"

There. I just quoted you. Easy peasy.

Pan · 04/06/2012 14:15

Pan · 04/06/2012 14:16

"its the people who dont put quote marks that confuse me"

This is what I do when I quote a PP's comment - and then make my own comment thereafter Smile

Feenie · 04/06/2012 16:36

Im finding it quite annoying not to be abe to quote

Are you? Do it like this then

starmaker7 · 04/06/2012 17:17

I sometimes also use the following method of indicating it's a quote - such as from a document.

Source: (link to source)

sdsadas sadfsad sad fd dsf sd fds f sdf sf sd f sdf sd
 dsadasdsf dsf sdf sd fgsd gf sdf sd fsd sd f sdf sd fsd

~~~ End Quote ~~~
I hate those forums where people spend all their time hunting backwards and quoting what people have said.
It's usually done to be then followed by "I'm sorry Cynthia, but what you said there is total bollocks" I've rarely seen it done for any useful or nice reason.
Because it will make a big mess and look rubbish
Trills · 04/06/2012 18:25
If you (not specifically you, just anyone) are currently too lazy to c&p then you are also the sort of person who would quote a whole post and then just write "LOL", without even saying which part of the post you thought was funny.
nymets · 04/06/2012 18:26
lol
QueenBonkeyMollocks · 04/06/2012 18:28
I...erm...have used the 'quote' thing in 'other sites' Grin and i thought it was shit. Its confusing and a pita to read.
Do it like this or like this Simples!
If you do this then you suck. Just so you know.
SaggyCeratops · 08/06/2012 23:08
I want to be able to cut and paste on my iPhone. Can you fix that for me please?
OhNoMyFanjo · 09/06/2012 06:49
Saggy you can just press tge screen near where you want to c&p and tge buttons appear
SleepyFergus · 09/06/2012 07:43
You can't c&p on the iPhone using the MN app Sad
HoneyDragonWearingLederhosen · 09/06/2012 07:47
We had a vote, a proper poash mumsnet one. It was a massive overwhelming majority win of "Hell No!"
So it was considered and discussed Smile, rather than a need to be dragged into the 21st century.
ErikNorseman · 11/06/2012 23:17
Don't use the app, it's shit. Use the mumsnet mobile version in safari, much much better.
IHeartKingThistle · 11/06/2012 23:21
WE SAID NO!!!
Grin
joanofarchitrave · 11/06/2012 23:22
What Trills said. All of it.
Most other forums are unreadable. Especially if you are allowed to use a massive signature and avatar with 'significant' quote expressing your personality (probably from Charles Bukowski) every time you post.
