I seem to have inadvertently offended some people by suggesting they contact a tv program. Can I delete it?

You can't - but you can report your post (see the blue 'report' to the right of your posting name), and ask MNHQ to delete it for you.

Go back and start a bun fight, that normally works. Or mention benefits claimants or Madeliene McCann.

I haven't seen the thread but you have two options 1) be grown up and go back and apologise, genuinely or stick by what you said if you still believe it or 2) namechange and deny all knowledge.

Most people go for option 2.

Thanks for the replies. I've considered the bun fight but gone for the cowardly option and asked for mumsnet to delete.

OP - I read the thread, and honestly, I wouldn't worry about it.

You suggested they might want to present their views, they all said - no fucking chance thankyou. No harm done. I can see you use that forum, they might have thought you were promoting it as a media request but it doesn't look that way.

Thank you MoaningMinnie, I'm grateful for the reassurance. I felt like I'd done something terrible. I didn't realise it would cause such controversy. The irony of the thing is that if people had not replied it would have quickly slipped off the first page and by posting messages it has kept it near the top.

It's Matthew Wright that's offensive not you, Sotiria. People were reacting to his name as he's a slimy weasel. I wouldn't worry about it.
