I've received a PM meant for someone else....

...and emailed mumsnet about it but I've not heard back.

It's weird because the PM had someone else's nickname in the "To" box but somehow it ended up in my inbox. And it's about a thread that I'm not even on, so I can't see how it got to me...

I'm just worried that private messages my not actually be private if they're being sent to random other mumsnetters.

We think it's v unlikely that PMs are being sent to random people. Sounds like the sender clicked the wrong "message poster" link - but we'll explain more fully in our email to you.

Hi Butt, It looks like the sender accidentally put a space in the nickname when they sent the message, and one half of what they typed matches a previous nickname of yours. If you look in to "to" field you can see there's a space. So you got it, along with another person whose name matches the other "half" iyswim.... sorry if this sounds vague but I don't want to "out" any of the name involved.
