Improving Mumsnet app for visually impaired MNers

I've just downloaded the Mumsnet app - it looks great, except for the fact that I can't read the threads!

When accessing the website on my iPhone, I turn the phone lengthways and zoom the text (a lot) to be able to read it.

When using the app, it doesn't allow me to flip the text to lengthways, or to zoom the text.

Do you think you could enable the app to do this? It would help other MNers with visual impairments - and perhaps quite a few visiting Gransnetters who don't want to hunt for their reading glasses... Smile

Hello skrullandcrossbones

Thanks for downloading the app and passing on your comments. Your timing is good as we've spent the last five months working with an App development agency to build a brand-new iPhone app (and iPad and Android versions).

I can confirm that, whilst it is much whizzier and easier to use, unfortunately the new App also doesn't allow zooming or landscape viewing. Despite a lot of testing and feedback, you are the first person to mention this issue.

We're hoping to send the new App to Apple for approval within the next week and I'm loath to delay the (already much delayed) release date any further. However, we will, as usual, be taking note of comments that are raised on the boards and releasing future versions that, hopefully, incorporate as many of these as possible. I've therefore added yours to the top of the list for version 1.2 (or whatever it is called).

Thanks again

Thanks Darren.

If you manage to make the app friendly to visually impaired people I will put the word out about it. It would be great not to be excluded from things like this - especially as technology should be able to make things easier for us!

I do appreciate you putting the change on the update list for the next release, and really hope to be able to use the app when that comes out.
