The number of times I have written a carefully thought out and worded reply to someone asking for help, then hit the post button only to find I have been logged out and it is wiped is so annoying!

I don't remember to alt ctl del every post in case this one gets wiped. So it is vair vair frustrating.

Morning. To avoid getting logged out automatically you need to tick the 'keep me logged in until I log out' box when you log in. It used to drive me batty too, writing a long post only to lose it.

GinPalace · 30/04/2012 10:49

oh thanks Nicholas. :)

It is so random, sometimes happens when I have been logged on minutes sometimes ages.

This is irritating the hell out of me too. I don't always want to use the 'keep me logged in' facility because the PC I use is shared. What with that and the site perpetually crashing, I think lots of people are getting fed up of losing posts and just won't bother any more.

NicholasTeakozy · 30/04/2012 11:02

It's frustrating. I used to log in here, open a new tab to do other stuff, click back only to find I'd been logged out. Grr and harumph.

sternface · 30/04/2012 11:04

I just got logged out within 4 minutes, which is ridiculous.

NicholasTeakozy · 30/04/2012 11:04

I know what you mean Sternface. Yesterday was particularly awful for losing posts.

HelenMumsnet · 30/04/2012 11:42

Hello. And many apols for all the crashes at the weekend.

We've kicked the server a bit introduced some fixes that will hopefully make things a bit more stable today.

GinPalace · 30/04/2012 11:44

Not stable for me today so far. Been booted out twice already. Oh well, maybe I should do something else. Grin

This site has to keep me sane while I am working home alone though. :(

sternface · 30/04/2012 12:03

It's just happened to me again. 6 minutes this time. Site's not stable at all.

GinPalace · 30/04/2012 12:14

It isn't - I've been booted out loads today, even since my last post.

Do you think MN have put t'money in't meter?

OP posts:
GinPalace · 30/04/2012 13:24

Right !!!! That does it. I am getting my working from home alone company from somewhere else.

MN - sort your site out it's broken

ShowOfHands · 30/04/2012 13:27

It does it to me too. I can't stay logged in on this pc as it's shared.

BUT if it does log you out as you post, click on log in and put in your details. Then click back twice and refresh the page and it will post.

GinPalace · 30/04/2012 13:43

ah good to know Showof :)

BackforGood · 30/04/2012 16:46

I've been logged out about 18 times today - it's getting beyond a joke.

I didn't know about the "click back twice and refresh the page".... how would you ? I know just logging in doesn't find your post again, and I know just clicking 'back' doesn't.

ChakotayBlue · 30/04/2012 16:50

Before you press 'post', highlight the message, right click and press 'copy'. Then if you're logged out, you can log in again, right click and 'paste'. Et voila!

BackforGood · 30/04/2012 16:54

Fair enough if you are expecting it which I know I should be by now but you shouldn't have to...... it's a bit like saying 'well, you could jam your hotel door locked with a chair if the lock doesn't work'. Er, yes, you could but you shouldn't have to.

GinPalace · 30/04/2012 18:16

Yes I know you can copy and paste - but it's an annoying habit to have to develop for every time and sometimes I don't and then... poof
