How do you pick a nick name?

I want to change my nn but I want to make sure my new name is not too close to anyone else's.

How do I find names which are similar to the one I am thinking of?

I have used "advanced search" but will that just show names that are exactly like the term I am searching or will they show near matches as well?

E.g. if the name I want to choose includes the word "cheese" - can I search using cheese and see all cheese-related names?

Yes, you just go to Advanced Search and put 'cheese' into the 'posted by' field. You might have to get a bit creative though and search 'cheddar', 'Edam' etc Smile.

Otherwise, my name came from a thread on here about finding your Royal Wedding guest name: an honorific + a grandparent's first name + first pet + street you grew up on. (I reversed my pet and street cos it sounds better this way round).

Cheers Lady Clarice

(Not sure I fancy my Royal Wedding Name - Dame Constance Snoodles Inverallan...)

So, I've just tested and typed "whatthecat" into "posted by" and got 0 results so my fear is that if for example I picked "cheese toastie" for my nickname there would be a "cheese and pickle toastie" out there, cheesed off annoyed with me for infringing on her nick name territory.
