It's only a few teeny words on a screen, surely they won't take up much space in the wholeworldweb?

Confused

So you an post about stuff you want to disappear, like toasters that disappear.

Because I said so

Tee2072 · 14/04/2012 07:49

TSSDNCOP

That's what Olivia meant to say. She forgot herself.

I think it's the 'L'. It blocks her West Wing brain or something.

Can't AIBU disappear instead

JustHecate · 14/04/2012 08:18

I wish more stuff would disappear.

Or at least be locked after a certain period.

I am pig sick of zombie threads coming towards me, arms outstretched, when they've been dead and buried for 5 years.

Lock. Old. Threads.

Or at least have a warning when you press post "This thread is older than Methuselah, the children of the people who posted on it are now parents posting here, are you sure you want to do this?"

Or something.

If people want to drag up an old thread knowingly, they can start a new one and link to it.

I mean, it's like going into a pub 6 years after a conversation, standing in the middle of it and saying "AND another thing..."

Nobody cares.

Tee2072 · 14/04/2012 08:20

All right, let's make a definitive list:

Less Topics
Lock old threads
Stop deleting chat and delete AIBU instead

Anything else?

JustHecate · 14/04/2012 08:21

Fewer, Tee. Fewer.

::twap::

Shall I tell you about my night, Miss Pedantic?

2am - boy awakes with soaking wet bed
4am - I finally fall back to sleep
6am - husband runs to puke
630am - boy awake for the day

So if it's less this morning it's fucking less this morning. Got it?

Grin
JustHecate · 14/04/2012 08:28

excuses, excuses

Grin

But seriously though, you must be bloody knackered!

Tee2072 · 14/04/2012 08:35

Knackered's a good word.

Husband is still asleep, but at least I haven't heard him run to loo again. Son and I are watching Cartoonito. And it's bloody gorgeous outside!

Where is Chat going?

What have I missed?

RowanMumsnet · 14/04/2012 11:15

Hello

This is Old Mumsnet Lore now from back when the whole outfit was run out of cupboard in Justine's spare bedroom (or something) - but basically, yes, it's because there needed to be a topic where people could post stuff safe in the knowledge that it wouldn't be indelibly inscribed in cyberspace.

JustHecate · 14/04/2012 11:18

calm down Pinot darling it's just the threads that disappear after 90 (I think) days, as they always have. Nobody is taking Chat away from you.

Pinot · 14/04/2012 11:19

:)

CupOfBrownJoy · 14/04/2012 11:20

But but but

My embarrassing poo story got moved to classics and is preserved forever! I only posted cos I thought it would disappear Blush

SarahStratton · 14/04/2012 11:55

Yes, but that was far too good to lose. Greater Good, and all that. Grin

Hassled · 14/04/2012 11:58

Blimey I thought you meant the Chat topic was going to disappear and have only just stopped hyperventilating.

It needs to disappear because otherwise I would have outed myself about 1000 times. And that wouldn't be good. Just about every thread I start is in Chat, quite deliberately - things need to shuffle of the mortal coil from time to time.

Hassled · 14/04/2012 11:59

off! dammit

ChaosTrulyReigns71 · 14/04/2012 20:42

Well Rowan, maybe we need a TransientTwaddleTopic.
