Re: delays in deleting posts recently (particularly overnight)

Would you give consideration to an automatic deletion system when a post is reported by a set number of different posters?

It could then be assessed and reinstated if it turns out all the MNers who were offended/belive it broke Talk Guidelines were all universally wrong. But tbh I doubt that would happen much - as a rule, when single posts get multiple bangs on the report button, it's for bloody good reason.

It seems a slow and laborious process that the wanky posts have to sit there (sometimes for hours in the night) before an HQer gets up and deletes 'em.

I would think a system of, say, 20 reports equals auto-deletion followed by a review when HQ see it, would be a good idea.

But I could well be wrong :)

Sounds like a bad idea to me - accusations of cliques and ganging-up would abound.

At least this way if someone accuses you of maliciously getting their post deleted you can say "I didn't get your post deleted, MNHQ decided it needed deleting"

mistressploppy · 05/04/2012 12:36

I was wondering this too, but it could be open to abuse? By a troll army, for instance?

mistressploppy · 05/04/2012 12:37

x-post trills

Pinot · 05/04/2012 12:38

oh yeah.

you're right

OTOH if certain select posters were allowed to move threads to more appropriate topics to prevent AIBU abuse I could nominate some suitable trustworthy candidates...

Do you mean 'gizza job', Trills?

BusinessTrills · 05/04/2012 12:43

No, just give me some power!

RebeccaMumsnet · 05/04/2012 14:05

Never! Wink
Agree that it would be open to abuse.

We are always open to any suggestions and if this sort of thing keeps happening, we will have to have a think. We have staff overseas who do catch this sort of thing quickly most of the time but with the Easter hols we were a little slow of the mark on this one.

Thank you for the suggestion and to those who reported, much appreciated.

But where were you last night and this morning HQ?
sarah whatever her name was, was all over the place last night and this morning and in spite of all the reports, she/he was rampant all over the boards.
Yet if any of us say Mitmoo we're automatically deleted.
I'm so not getting it.

What if we all just promised not to Feed the Trolls Mogwai after midnight?

solidgoldbrass · 06/04/2012 00:45

I always miss the really good trolls. What was this one's shtick? Poo fetishism? Islamophobia? MRA whinyarsery?

Auntiestablishment · 06/04/2012 00:52

Was just random bad language/insults. Not interesting.

HateBeingCantDoUpMyJeans · 06/04/2012 05:16

You didn't miss anything, 'twas like a child running around the supermarket swearing at tge customers, but she has been twice this week and considering she says she is 15 she is quite vile.

I think a set number of reports of an individual could trigger suspension for tgat user. However I don't know how many people are actually here at night and if we would get enough reports to make it work ie not open to absuse.
