Can I make a suggestion? - safety checklist

I've just been reading another story about a 2-year-old strangled with a blind cord Sad so was thinking what more can be done about this.

So - please excuse me if you already have something like this, but if so I haven't seen it (and been around a while) - I was wondering whether it would be a good idea to have a safety checklist for parents of babies/small children, that could be posted somewhere prominent on the homepage, baby/toddler pages and maybe as a sticky on relevant forum boards? And perhaps sent out in the child development or pregnancy mails as well? Or if you do have one already, perhaps make it more visible so people will see it even if not looking for it?

My thinking was that there seem to be certain sorts of accidents that happen again and again just through lack of awareness - blind cords, falling TVs, toppling furniture, ponds (especially combined with DCs who can get out of the house alone).... plus things like smoke alarms and carbon monoxide (at home, on holiday or camping) could also be included. I'm sure other posters could suggest more! A lot of people seem fixated about plug sockets, furniture corners and suchlike, but might be missing some of the more dangerous but less-discussed risks.

What do you think?

I am inclined to say no

Where would you stop, draw the line?

Hello InigoMontoya
I am sorry about your father Grin
Thanks so much for the suggestion.
While Baldy does indeed make a good point about drawing the line but we will absolutely have a think about this at the Towers

Blind Cord Safety Awareness is very close to my heart, my son got a cord around his neck (at nursery) and was left with a nasty friction burn, thank fully nothing more serious. It was six months ago and I am still trying to get authorities to sit up and take notice.... in the meanwhile i and trying to spread the word about this campaign... please share everywhere you can, something so simple to fix has cost 2 childrens lives since 1999 in the UK alone.
