LOCKING OLD THREADS

JustHecate · 13/02/2012 22:24

Yes, I'm yelling

I just got zombie threaded! Grin

It's bloody ridiculous.

You don't always remember to check the blasted date on a damn thread. If a thread is in active convos, it is natural to assume it's not FOURTEEN BLOODY YEARS OLD! Grin

Can't you lock threads after a certain period of non posting? I mean, if a thread's been dead for 3 years - do you think people want to start up on it again?

Or at least attempting to post should trigger a "ZOMBIE THREAD" alert.

"This thread has been dead for a very long time. We have all moved on. Do you really want to bring it back to life?"

Here, here.

Do you think they get dug up here of via google? I've always been for deleting vast swathes of the archive...

JustHecate · 13/02/2012 22:30

Maybe.

tbh, I'm at a loss to explain how a thread so many years old suddenly appears. google certainly makes sense.

It's very annoying. Grin

Wouldn't we need to have to have zombie thread protection plans if we did this?!

HJisthinkingofanewname · 13/02/2012 22:36

You mean you don't Shock

FoofFighter · 13/02/2012 22:37

"This thread has been dead for a very long time. We have all moved on. Do you really want to bring it back to life?"

puntastic

SuePurblybilt · 13/02/2012 22:37

Yes. It also makes us realise how much time we spend here, how much head room we give to old Aibu threads and how many years we've been reading this shite when you realise that not only is it years old, but you remember it, can say the ending and hazard a guess at the OP's subsequent name change.
Lock them, for all our sakes.

IamtheZombie · 13/02/2012 23:47

I could be bribed persuaded to shuffle into action to warn about zombie threads.

Omg a zombie. And it's looking at me!

IamtheZombie · 14/02/2012 00:27

I said hopefully Olivia. Not hungrily...

I have blood Wine if that would help?

Valpollicella · 14/02/2012 00:37

Its when you reply to a zombie thread and later realise you are already on same thread, 6 years earlier that you get the Hmm face. From yourself to yourself. For spending waaay to much time here.

Bonus points if it was under a name change youd forgotten about until you re read the thread properly....

Honeydragon · 14/02/2012 00:41

A klaxon? Seriously that's all you have as a zombie plan. A klaxon Hmm

HJisthinkingofanewname · 14/02/2012 08:09

Val- more bonus points of you answered differently!

StealthPolarBear · 14/02/2012 08:14

Intend to find I was already on the thread and have said the same thing, pretty much word for word

OliviaMumsnet · 14/02/2012 08:24

@Honeydragon

A klaxon? Seriously that's all you have as a zombie plan. A klaxon Hmm

I feel certain that some helpful MNers could come up with a better plan for us.

Grin
JustHecate · 14/02/2012 09:13

A klaxon?

Well. Good luck with that.
Grin

You need a zombie proof bunker under MN Towers, stocked high with the essentials, where you can wait it out until they've all eaten each other / starved to zombie death from lack of flesh.

What would the essentials be for MNHQ, that is the question.

biscuits, obviously...

(It could also be the place you retreat to when it kicks off badly on here. It's your zombie/MNBF proof bunker.)

Now. Back to the business at hand -

Are you going to lock old threads, hmmmmmm?

OP posts:
Honeydragon · 14/02/2012 09:32

Nicely sidestepped Hec, Olivia it's not nice to distract us we are focused and determined and want threads locking ..... Oooooh cake

JustHecate · 14/02/2012 09:39
