I think it would be good for people to have a limit.

Wondered what you thought MNHQ, and others of course.

What should the limit be though? I like seasonal changes/variations, after 3 years would my allocation be up??

I don't think its a good idea personally.

kidd · 22/01/2012 14:57

Do you think it would be good to have a limit for your own gain? Some people prefer to be anonymous for a variety of reasons and if they can't feel assured of annonymity then would not post but maybe that is the point. They could still read of course unless that is going to become limited too.

cornskull · 22/01/2012 15:00

why would it be good to have a limit?

QED · 22/01/2012 15:01

I've had a lot of name changes. Some for personal reasons others for seasonal or joke type threads. Some just because I feel like a new name. Will check how many I've had in the past 8 years.

OracleInaCoracle · 22/01/2012 15:04

No, as long as you don't nc for malicious purposes (iirc DP wasn't allowed to nc) there's no reason for a limit. I nc occasionally (for GoT threads/funny threads/seasonal)

QED · 22/01/2012 15:05

Have had 97 different names in the past 8 years. Is that an OK amount or have I had too many?

LadyGahGah · 22/01/2012 15:05

Why on earth would you want to impose a limit? I change regularly to stop myself being outed in real life. I have been a regular mumsnetters for over 6 years...if there was a limit my time would be up then!

JaneMare · 22/01/2012 15:12

What would be the point in limiting NCs?

If a poster was outed in RL and they had used their 'allocation' would they then be effectively banned from the site, or have to ask for an extension on that allocation? And how/who decides on the optimum number of NCs?

cornskull · 22/01/2012 15:13

I think most posters name change - I do all the time.

Cassidee · 22/01/2012 15:18

Should we fess up to number of names? Wink

Discriminates against those of us who've got teens/been on here since the year dot. Harrumph.

QED · 22/01/2012 15:22

I've said how many I've had Grin

Cassidee · 22/01/2012 15:23

I know - impressive. Wink

Ladymuck · 22/01/2012 15:25

OP, why do you think it would be a good idea to have a limit?

PinotVaggio · 22/01/2012 15:27

So that's a no then Grin

BelleDameSansMerci · 22/01/2012 15:31
Grin

I don't want a limit either... I have some "stored" but I like a new one occasionally.

DaenerysTargaryen · 22/01/2012 15:33

I've had 13 in about two and a half years but only 4 that i've used properly, others are seasonal, 97 is impressive!

I think it's pointless to impose a limit.

CatHairInMyFaceCream · 22/01/2012 15:35

just an idea. forget it.

I'll take that as a no :)
