well, having joined today having previously heard MN mentioned many a time, i am utterly amazed that there is basically NIL local community links. i really thought i was about to join an army of local mums-especially as i live in a village between three towns listed in the local section. why is this? especially as i see there are between 1.3 and 1.7 members!

Ahhhhhh, it may seem like there are no community links, but just wait until someone has a crisis. Stay a while and hear about the Mumsnetters who went and spring cleaned the house of another MNer in need, who visit each other when in hospital with ill children or who go to train stations with changes of clothes for those who have had accidents.....

We are an army. A super-efficient, highly trained army of amazing women. Ready to be mobilised when needed.

Each with a zombie plan and an ofrs.

And you should have seen us when the summer riots were in full swing! MNetters offering to visit others elderly relatives and offering their homes as refuge for people caught up in the mayhem

i certainly will be staying around, i definately can't wait to see what happens in a crisis! but i'm not looking to start any groups, just thought they'd already be here.
