Freeing up usernames

G'wan g'wan g'wan!

There is a name I would love, and it's never been used to post. Ok, it might be a lurker, but pleeeeease can we free up names which have not been used to log in with in the last, say, two years?

Yup. I quite fancy a change.

Hassledge · 05/12/2011 16:55

I do sort of agree.

My only worry would be what happens if say I post something a bit contentious and say I have 4 children. Someone who takes issue with the thread/my post does the searching the archives thing and comes back saying "hang on a minute, back in 2009 you said you had 6 children. You're a big fat liar and I'm calling troll". Or summat.

ATruthFestivelyAcknowledged · 05/12/2011 16:58

Yup. All the names I tried were blocked, but I've never seen anyone post with them.

tallulah · 05/12/2011 18:02

You wouldn't be able to use one that had ever been used to post - even as a one-off.

Is it really necessary anyway - surely there are enough possibilities for a username that you don't ned to take one that's already been used/ in use? (and that also goes for people who put numbers or odd letters onto the end of someone else's username)

PsecretPsanta · 07/12/2011 17:33

I would say it's marginally more necessary than cups of hash tea and biscuits. Grin

Is it possible to delete usernames you're done with? I mean, remove them from your account history etc? If someone were to gain access to my account, then at the moment it seems they can also find out all other names I have used - when the whole point of changing has been to do with not being recognised.

Unless I'm missing something and it's easily done?

ChippyMinton · 07/12/2011 17:38

Time for another name auction maybe?

JeremyVile · 07/12/2011 17:47

I always wondered why we couldnt delete names we didnt want anymore.

And you never know when someone could acces your account I remember the evening I was pootling about on here and came face to face with another JeremyVile. Lots of high jinks ensued.

God that was horrific fantastic!! Grin
