Hiding whole topics/sections

I knew you can 'hide' threads on the 'boards page' you have open. I was a bit unaware you can hide whole swathes of subjects you have no interest in whatsover. Does this mean that when you click on 'last 15 mins' they don't appear at all?
Can someone tell me where to find how to do this please? Some MN housework is overdue. tia.

Click on ' my mumsnet' which is in the middle of the dark blue row at the top of the page
Then follow o where you can customise
