how do you actually choose people for the product tests?

Is it the people you love the most?
The ones with the most erudite comments in the "why do you want to take part in this" box?
Do you use a random number generator and make it absolutely fair?
The first to say yes?
The people with the nicest names?
Cross out all those that aren't in your target demographic?
The people who post the most?
The people who've been here longest?
The people who are most grovelly about the whole thing?

Just curious :o

Something along the lines of some of the above!!!

It's in part random, in part about fitting any criteria, in part about being a member of MN (not necessarily for ages but we do like folks who have posted on the boards). Being first or grovelly doesn't make a difference really.

Being chosen sometimes is just down to luck really - we often get so many folks apply some people are bound to be disappointed and it is hard choosing - we don't like to keep the recruit open for too long but we have to balance this with allowing as many MNers as possible to see the recruitment. I was uncomplimentary about the SunBites (they weren't very nice) so I doubt I'll get picked again...

Not really, I hope your sponsors appreciate constructive criticism, it's actually more useful than "mmmm, crisps"
