Grrr. Fed up with my posts timing out

In the good old days, the message box was always there at the end of a thread, ready and waiting. You would type in your message and then add your log-in name & password and press 'send'. It was foolproof.

Then we changed to the current system. You have to log-in first and only then does the message box appear. You type your message, get distracted by the phone or the DC, wander off to hyperspace to check a reference, make a cup of tea ... and then press the 'send' button only to find the message gets lost because you have been logged out. Please, can we go back to the old system. I am fed up with losing my posts.Sad

Bump for you.

Can't you log in and check the box for keeping you logged in until you log out?

RowanMumsnet · 26/10/2011 19:28

Hello there,

Sorry for the frustration. Have you tried staying logged in (as TheOriginalFAB suggests)?

JaneBirkin · 26/10/2011 19:34

I thought this might be about compatibility view, which I am still finding eats my posts - especially the long ones - while I'm still writing them. Angry

RowanMumsnet · 26/10/2011 19:49

Oh right

What's compatibility view? Blush

Sorry - if you tell me as much as poss about the problem I can pass it all on to Tech and hopefully you'll get a well-informed response!

JaneBirkin · 26/10/2011 20:31

Oh sorry! I hijacked a bit there. I don't know what it is either Grin

I opened a thread about it several months ago, and Damian I think was working on it but it seems to have started happening again.

Basically I'm using IE7 and sometimes when I am writing a message, the page refreshes 'due to a problem with compatibility view' and I lose it.

Hope something can be done, it's very frustrating.

Thankyou Smile

I've just lost a long post, I'm using google chrome though.

I always stay logged in.

I have no idea what's wrong but it's bloody annoying.

HelenMumsnet · 27/10/2011 17:02

Hello. And hmm.

We'll see if anyone from our Tech team has any bright ideas about this.

Hi what is the reason for MN logging me out whilst I'm writing a post?

Twice this morning whilst logged in I've written a post sent it and found it gone as I'm no longer logged on.

This happens quite a lot and it's really annoying.

ChildofIsis · 02/11/2011 06:01

Now I'm getting annoyed.
MN has shut down on me twice and has logged me out 4 times.

Is there a problem today?
