which then leads to a drop-down box so I can select the right topic.

I really really really hate having to trawl through Talk-All Topics-scrollscrollscroll-Site Stuff-Create New Thread...

I could die of boredom or forget what I want to say by the time i've got there.

Also I'm not always sure quite where the topic is hiding, so for instance I might have a weaning question: Is it in Food, or Behaviour/Development, or or or - Oh fuck it, i'll put it in chat!

Then Trills and the TAMPON brigade will shout at me! I Cant Win!

When did I last shout at someone for posting something in Chat?

Huh?

Pascha · 21/10/2011 12:41

Probably not for ages, sorry.

Trills · 21/10/2011 12:43

Never is the answer.

I don't shout.

I gently remind them that other topics exist, especially if they are likely to get a better/more helpful response in those topics (Geeky Stuff is a prime one, I know that some people deliberately go there to see if they can help out with technical problems).

The closest I get to shouting is saying YABU - but I wouldn't do that in Chat unless provoked :)

Trills · 21/10/2011 12:44

It would be a very long drop-down box. How would you have it arranged? By area? Alphabetically?

Pascha · 21/10/2011 12:49

Just the main topic titles - 21 so less than listing the alphabet, f'rinstance. Then clicking on that topic would open the sub-topics in that area. Pick the one you want and just go.

I just hate trawling.

YABU said nicely [hsmile]. Yes thats more like it. You don't shout.

You could have something posh like where you start typing the topic name and it narrows down the options as you type, then you choose the right one. Something smart like that could even make it look like we know what we are doing. Hmm. We'll have a think about it and raise it to "the powers at the towers." Tech very lowly these days (sniff.)

Tech · 21/10/2011 13:28

Do we have a "blatant bid for sympathy" emoticon?

DreamsOfScream · 21/10/2011 13:34

There,there.

JustineMumsnet · 21/10/2011 13:36

@Tech

Do we have a "blatant bid for sympathy" emoticon?

Silence! Back in the shed with you. [Bolts door]

Pascha · 21/10/2011 13:37

I like posh. I like smart. Here, Tech, have some Brew and Thanks[hsmile].

Now get back to work, stop with the sympathy snivells and go Kick Some Butt!

Yeah!

Yes this would be a brilliant idea - I too get bored with searching through all the bloody topics, hence why 99% of my threads are in chat or aibu.

GetOrfMo1Land · 21/10/2011 13:39

"Something smart like that could even make it look like we know what we are doing."

PinotScreechio · 21/10/2011 14:47

good idea.

CotherMuckingFunt · 21/10/2011 14:50

Does anyone else sit up a little straighter when they see JustineMumsnet on a thread?

Hang on a cottonpicking minute.

When I make a statement about MN, Tech comes on and chunters away about me being rude.

Pascha doesn't even say please and her suggestion gets considered.

SIOFB.

Taint fair.

And my suggestion was better than hers. Ner.

«big jutty out bottom lip»

Pascha · 21/10/2011 15:04

Come on then Chao, whats your idea? And did you just swear at me in that acronym?

OP posts:
Trills · 21/10/2011 15:12

SIOFB?

I don't think you can do that really can you?
