Aid to finding your place in a thread

When you click on a thread, it's title is highlighted in active conversations, so you know you have read that thread/can watch it. Is it possible to do something similar with posts in a thread? Sometimes I start reading a thread, have to go away (get a life!) for some time and then, when I come back, it is difficult to work out where I had got to in the thread - particularly when there have been a lot of posts in my absence. It's sometimes time-consuming to trawl through the whole thread to work out where I had got to previously.

So, all posts which have already been read could be highlighted in the way the thread titles are in the list of threads, so you just go to the place where you finished.

Pretty please?

Am I the only person who would find this useful, then? Presumably the rest of you have no trouble finding where you left off in a post.

also, if you click on search new messages, you can choose to search for all posts since you last posted

Great idea - I have often thought the same.

Techies - it can't be that hard can it?

Yes, but I don't always want to read from when I last posted, but from the last post that I read, IYSWIM. I often read a thread without posting or don't post until part-way through, but obviously read other people's posts. So my post may not be the last thing I read.
