We've just swapped providers and for a while everything was slow (till I discovered that 'tech head' DH had done it wrong!). Now, everything else is fine but MN is still painfully slow.

Anyone else?
Any ideas?

I'm glad you posted this. I got a new router from cash converters yesterday. I got a bit over excited at having a cash converters and had to buy something

DH moaned. When it wouldn't work he laughed at me and told me I'd wasted my money on a broken router. When I fixed it he told me it would be shite.

Yes. I have found a solution though - double click on the thread you want to go to. You'll see the green bar at the bottom of the screen fill up reeeeaaaaaalllyyyy slowly. Double click on the thread title again and it will open it up straight away.

Virginmedia had massive switch problems from about lunchtime yesterday it affected some sites but not others (including their service status page which you couldn't access). They seem to be fixed now so that might have been the problem (MN was affected for me yesterday but is fine this evening).
