Maryz, yes you're right, the penny has finally dropped with me about like/dislike.
No that I don't like lurkers, just that an anonymous reader could influence how a thread is perceived.

I only actually did it 4 times, I think - once on iPad at home, once on iPhone, just to see if it was a different ip address (it was) and then I opened it on 4 PCs at work to experiment, but I only completed it on 2 of them, I think. and that was because it had a nasty tendency to make IE freeze if you tried to close it without completing, so it was quicker just to do the quiz....

Maybe you should only be able to like posts on a thread if you have commented on it. So you keep the conversation and the mutterings of "ooh yes good point" between those actually involved?
