can we have a 'LIKE' button on every posters post??

sometimes i don't wish to comment but want to acknowledge that i like a mumsnetter's post or response. i keep going to click the like button, as on facebook but inevitably find that it is not there!!

OP posts:

It's so childish. I think that's what bothers me the most.

As is facebook.

It's for teenagers fgs. They like that sort of thing. I haven't got TIME or the energy to click 'like' on someone's post. I'd rather just respond to it.

SayGhoulNowSayWitch · 10/10/2011 21:42

YY to what FearTricks said - things are a-changin around here....

toosoontoosoon · 10/10/2011 21:43

I mean you wouldn't go to some highbrow dinner party and give every guest a chocolate button when they say something valid. You would be too busy discussing what was said.

I hate this. I hate the sex stuff, and I hate this and tbh it's just sold out if you keep on this path.

It's a real shame...there's nowhere for grown ups to go any more.

fastweb · 10/10/2011 21:43

How about a maximum of x likes per month per poster ?

Then people would be a little less indecriminate with their ration?

And it would be "Like 2.0" on the web, the discerning like button, the connoisseur of likes, she who does not like just any old lkeable post of like options.

Although tech might throw potatoes at the person suggesting it for logistical reasons.

and with the other stuff - MN 'new', that sort of major change, well there were good reasons to do it, and very few not to.

This isn't the same at all. It will cause no end of problems.

Honestly, I cannot see why a talk forum would voluntarily reduce talking. Cos it will. And it'll be the mushroom furore all over again Sad

I see it less as childish, more like a seal-lion clapping Grin.

EricNorthmansMistress · 10/10/2011 21:47

Justine doesn't know about the strikeout! Educating Justine! My life is now complete

SayGhoulNowSayWitch · 10/10/2011 21:48

Sjue does have a sealiont salient point

SayGhoulNowSayWitch · 10/10/2011 21:48

Ssshh, Eric, I wasn't going to say anything.....

She doesn't know that you only have to strikeout at the beginning and end of a sentence, not every word

EricNorthmansMistress · 10/10/2011 21:48

Seriously though, it's completely fucking stupid and pointless and change for change's sake. We really don't want this. Please don't impose it anyway.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/10/2011 21:50

Justine: For pity's sake I've been at this for 12 years give me something to spice it up a bit.

Ah now that explains the dildo ads Grin

The content is what sets MN apart, not buttons. If I want buttons I steal them from my children Grin

toosoontoosoon · 10/10/2011 21:50

If they do this I want an avatar with a chicken on it.

toosoontoosoon · 10/10/2011 21:51

and a chicken ticker.

whomovedmychocolate · 10/10/2011 21:51

Mmm chicken tikka.

MyMelody · 10/10/2011 21:57

Fgs NO NO NO justine, we don't want it, its childish like another said, and there is no place for it here

I like mumsnet because its a cut above most other crap on the internet
Don't lower yourselves

whomovedmychocolate · 10/10/2011 21:59

As an experiment I suggest you all go off and type 'like' after any post you think is funny. And see how long it takes before people call you an eejit!

SayGhoulNowSayWitch · 10/10/2011 22:00

Like

SuePurblybilt · 10/10/2011 22:01

WMMC has it. Can we all do that for a week instead Justine?

whomovedmychocolate · 10/10/2011 22:02

Will make cutting down the unanswered threads a doddle Grin

MurderBloodstabsandgore · 10/10/2011 22:02

Noooooooooooooo.

I will become obsessed by the fact that no one 'likes' what I post and will feel like a useless crapbag and stop posting

whomovedmychocolate · 10/10/2011 22:03

SayGhoulNowSayWitch - eejit Grin

SayGhoulNowSayWitch · 10/10/2011 22:04
MurderBloodstabsandgore · 10/10/2011 22:04

Justine, you can strikeout from the start and end now, not just every individual word :)
