I'm sorry to have to break it to you, but there is definitely a gender discrimination thing going on here. Some of you will have noticed that I have been repeatedly accused of being anti-feminist, that I have repeatedly been accused of being that sad little prick from facebook. That I have been called various names. You've probably also noticed that I haven't broken a single rule, I've not personally called any member a name, or posted anything nasty towards any individual. But I've now had two accounts banned, I've had posts deleted. I've had an entire thread deleted, because I dared to create a post calling into question whether this site is operating a gender discriminationj policy towards men.

You'll note the published policy about trolls:
Unfortunately, it's not always immediately obvious whether a poster is, in fact, a troll. We all tend to be a bit suspicious of new folks posting things of a sensitive or inflammatory nature, but we would rather Mumsnet erred on the side of giving folks the benefit of the doubt and risked being made to look a bit foolish than pounce on someone who turns out to be genuinely in need of help. We hope you agree.

I'm afraid that's not true, in reality the women can go around making all sorts of nasty personal remarks about the men, but even if a man (such as me) stays within the rules, and doesn't make nasty personal remarks he will be banned should he dare to say something the women object to.

I am living proof of this.

I have been banned twice without the administrators of this site having a single piece of evidence to support their claims of me being a troll. You've seen me repeatedly ask the women making that accusation against me to show some evidence from any one of my post that in anyway demonstrates me behaving like a troll on this board. They have completely failed to do so. I have asked via email, and only received a response which basically says that because I stated that I didn't care about what any women thinks or feels... in direct response to a woman breaking the rules and making yet another unfounded allegation against me, that the administrators 'feel' I 'might' be a troll.

That's their reason for banning me... despite there being nothing in any post of mine which constitutes trolling behaviour towards any other member of this board.

Expect this thread to be deleted completely, in line with their attempts to hide away from the membership the truth of how they are operating gender based discrimination on this site.

This account will undoubtedly be banned and I shall be back to point this out all over again... until the administrators of this site have the decency to show some honesty and admit that this is exactly how this site is being operated to the membership.

Licorice wallpaper, that's genius!

nenevomito · 28/08/2011 21:46

Thats what I love about MN. Accidental decoration solutions.

PacificDogwood · 28/08/2011 21:46

Eh, I think NOT, MmeLindor, but Grin

Yy to red liquorice, luvely

stripeybump · 28/08/2011 21:47

Our living room was a feast of magnolia until I snapped and maxed out a Laura Ashley store card on beautiful curtains, throws and cushions. Soo worth it. Probs not for everyone though. My dream is to have one of their room design people come and do the rest of my house now.

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 28/08/2011 21:47

Liquorice is a laxative, and in no way comparable to a pleasant, treat food. It is medicinal.

LeBOF · 28/08/2011 21:47

Duck egg blue will always be beautiful.

stripeybump · 28/08/2011 21:48

Does the wood warm up the duck egg? I'm not very good at using cold colours.

nenevomito · 28/08/2011 21:48

I am still waiting to hear about whether red liquorice is real liquorice though.

PacificDogwood · 28/08/2011 21:49

A friend of mine had a really disappointing experience with LA: spent a lot of money on curtains for a whole house, had them made by LA Shock and not one of them actually fit!

Put me off a bit, I have to admit

ThePathanKhansWoman · 28/08/2011 21:49

Tethers i.m hyperventilating, pictures please.

PacificDogwood · 28/08/2011 21:50

Sadly, not liquorice

giyadas · 28/08/2011 21:51

In Australia, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, the Netherlands, Spain, United Kingdom and the United States, there is also a product known as red liquorice, which is extruded in a way to resemble liquorice, but is made with strawberry, cherry, raspberry, or cinnamon flavourings as the main flavourings rather than liquorice. More recently similar products have been introduced in a wider variety of flavours including apple, mango, blackcurrant, and watermelon, among others. Twizzlers (by Hersheys) and Red Vines are the most well known product brands of this type in the United States; in Australia these are produced by Darrell Lea and several other companies. While the common name for this candy has now become "red liquorice", or often simply "liquorice", this candy has little connection to actual liquorice root in flavour. The term "black liquorice" (or "black licorice") would formerly have been redundant and has become a retronym in North America.

that someone took the time to write a wikipedia article on it.
so um, yes..and no.

giyadas · 28/08/2011 21:52

love that someone....

RowanMumsnet · 28/08/2011 21:52

Hello

Just a quick note to say that, while ManicGeek is currently unable to speak for himself, we don't have any reason to think that he is behind MumsnetSucks.

(Neutrals, bare wood, odd flash of colour, cat hair)

PacificDogwood · 28/08/2011 21:54

What, no comment on the liquorice vs chocolate debate, Rowan?
But thanks for that.

deepfriedcupcake · 28/08/2011 21:54

Cat hair? I'm sooo out of touch.

JackTheNipper · 28/08/2011 21:54

I like men posting here, you get a diferent POV which adds variety.
To say that male posters are singled out and shouted down is doown right insulting. But I dare say that that was the aim of your post in the first place?

so to the point..... my living room needs decorating, cream walls and carpet!! already like this when we moved in, I think I might paper it, I'm not keen on paint!

TheRealMBJ · 28/08/2011 21:54

We had a sunshine yellow sitting room but now it is a beautiful, warm Oxford Stone. it's neutral but not magnolia Grin I loooooooove it Grin

tethersend · 28/08/2011 21:54

I am trapped in deepest darkest Lincolnshire until Tuesday. I will post a photo on my return and you can salivate/recoil in horror Grin

Shit. That means I'll have to tidy up, doesn't it?

stripeybump · 28/08/2011 21:55

Pacific that must have cost a bleddy fortune! Did she get her money back or did she measure wrongly? I just got readymade ones which are about 2in too short. They are the 7/8 trouser of the curtain world.

JackTheNipper · 28/08/2011 21:55

cat hair = the new dog hair darling!

giyadas · 28/08/2011 21:55

I think he's more likely to be from here

crazynanna · 28/08/2011 21:55

Grin at "currently unable to speak for himself

ThePathanKhansWoman · 28/08/2011 21:55

Pacific thought your post said your friend had had curtains made in L.A!

note to self: concentrate.

AbsDuWolef · 28/08/2011 21:55

Ours is pistachio coloured walls, with picture rails (love love love) and then wall above in white. Sofa has a fab throw from india (it's originally blue and while striped and does weird things to my eyes) and pale creamy carpets, with a lovely burn (DP had a shisha pipe accident) with complementary red wine stains (my contribution).
The BEST thing though is our clock, which is a square chalkboard that you can write stuff on. I LOVE it.
