Living overseas broken....

dilbertina · 07/05/2011 06:00

The living overseas section is broken. There I was trying to answer some desperate plea for help related to changing plugs and I can't! If I go to topic no threads come up - just an HSBC ad for expats. If I click on a living overseas thread in active nothing comes up either.

Me too - I think it is the HSBC banner ad. It was ok yesterday but now that's the only thing on the page.

WhatSheSaid · 07/05/2011 07:01

Ooh you're right, so it has

ninedragons · 07/05/2011 23:48

Still broken - can't get into the Philip Island thread either.

WhatSheSaid · 08/05/2011 01:53

I've just reported my post to bring it to their attention.

LinzerTorte · 08/05/2011 06:17

Hope it gets sorted out soon - I haven't been able to get into Living Overseas for almost 24 hours now, although I've noticed other people have been able to post on LO threads.

HelenMumsnet · 08/05/2011 09:28

Hello. Sorry we're a bit late spotting this.

It all seems to be working from this end - are you folks still having trouble your end?

WhatSheSaid · 08/05/2011 09:31

Yes, I still can't get on any Living Overseas thread. Just get a blank screen and the HSBC banner ad.

Other people are posting on Living Overseas though - the threads are in Active Convos. So obviously not affecting everyone.

ExpatAgain · 08/05/2011 09:31

yes, rather reflects the state of my mind, living overseas is indeed "broken" - home alone on mother's day, kids gone out with dh for a "mother's day brunch" w/o me! AIBU to rather be at home in the PEACE & QUIET without them all?! Sorry, wrong section..

FluffyDonkey · 08/05/2011 09:40

I can't get on either (haven't been able to since last night) although I've noticed a couple of the threads in active convos...although when I click on them I can't access them either.

Argh!

WhatSheSaid · 08/05/2011 09:42

And in my Threads I'm On, I can see the thread and the beginnings of the new posts but I can't get in to read them. Aaaargh!

HelenMumsnet · 08/05/2011 09:45

Oh dear - that is most odd. We'll make sure the Techs know about this but we're afraid we can't promise a fix on a Sunday.

Those of you who can't access it, what browser are you using? (Safari, Firefox, IE etc etc)

FluffyDonkey · 08/05/2011 09:47

internet explorer

WhatSheSaid · 08/05/2011 09:47

I'm using IE

Horopu · 08/05/2011 09:50

I'm using IE and getting the same (i.e. HSBC ad and blank as screen) as everyone else.

LinzerTorte · 08/05/2011 11:27

I'm using IE but have Firefox too - I'll check whether it works with that.

exexpat · 08/05/2011 11:30

I just checked and it was fine - I'm using firefox.

MotherMountainGoat · 08/05/2011 11:41

Yup, Living Overseas working fine here in Germany with Firefox. Can't see the HSBC ad either as I have Adblocker Plus.

MotherMountainGoat · 08/05/2011 11:42

Oh, and it's Firefox for Mac, if that makes any difference.

LinzerTorte · 08/05/2011 11:50

Yes, it now works OK in Firefox.

HelenMumsnet · 08/05/2011 14:56

Hello again. Ok, we can confirm that Living Overseas is broken if you're viewing the site using Internet Explorer.

We are on the case but, in the meantime, you can still access Living Overseas if you switch to another browser, such as Safari, Firefox or Chrome.

DamianTech · 09/05/2011 10:27

Hi everyone,

We've isolated the issue - it seems one of our adverts was causing issues with Internet Explorer, making the rest of the page appear blank. It has been disabled for now, and we'll make sure it gets sorted before being put back up again.

NetworkGuy · 09/05/2011 11:52

LOL - in the past it was often the case IE would show pages with broken HTML while other browsers showed blank pages (or worse, crashed).

PS Hope you are careful with future changes on the MN site so you don't use any MSIE v9 'features' as those with Windows XP or Vista cannot upgrade to MS Internet Explorer v9 or later
