Bolding Italics etc

PLEASE can someone look into this. Ages ago someone said it would be sorted out but it still isn't!

If you want to BOLD (or Italic) two words in one sentence you should be able to each side of the word, but when you do, it bolds from the second to the 3rd* and it's bloody annoying (same with italics).

I don't think this changed as far back as when it became possible to bold a whole lot of text in one go (rather than word by word)....
