Marking my place ?

I've been interested to see several posters writing "Marking my place" and wonder how this works.

This is indeed exactly what I'd like to be able to do, as I often find myself trawling through a thread looking for my post, and the responses following it

Hoping for an " Oh, yeh, that's how it works" moment !

The thread will then appear on "I'm on" Threads that you can select from the menu at the top.

Or, you can click the "bookmark" icon on the last post, so thread opens on that post when you go back to thread.

Or you can just "watch this thread" and check your list of "I'm watching" from the menu at top.

Oh and go to "customise" and choose a colour for OP and your posts - makes skimming a huge thread for OP posts much easier.

But as a bit of a technophobe it's still all rather unclear

I check "I'm on" and follow threads from there.

But I still don't get how to bookmark. Is it to do with "Watch this thread" & what does "Flip this thread" do ?

Also how does "Hide this thread" work ?

The main thing I'd like to do I think is bookmarking, especially so I could find my post again later !
You mention a bookmarking icon. Not sure what this would look like/ Couldn't find it !

Hi jugglingjo,

You need to enable the Bookmarks feature as it's not switched on by default. Go to the Customise page (link near the top of the talk pages), then scroll down until you find the option for "Show bookmark links", and enable it. You'll then get a small blue link in the bottom right of each post allowing you to mark your place in each thread.

Perhaps MNHQ could consider having Bookmarks as the default option as it seems so useful ?

I've now got my posts highlighted in lavender (pink?)
and OP's in pale green. That will be a big help. As well as looking pretty

Don't seem to be able to "enable" bookmarking though (clicked "yes" and "save", but no luck) - perhaps wrong sort of computer ?!! (Winnie the pooh analogy for the eagle-eyed !)

The bookmark icon only appears (after enabling) when you hover over the bottom right of a post (for me, anyway).
