In Threads I'm On

I would like this option next to each thread title in the threads I'm on thingy. I know I could bookmark my own post but I really dislike the bookmarking option.

Totally agree.. Drives me mad when I have to scroll back though pages of stuff.

Don't really want to bookmark things on PC shared with rest of family.

LowRegNumber · 11/03/2011 13:02

Totally agree, it would be a very useful feature!

Oh, also a way to delete a thread from "threads I am on" for example I post "done" on a survey thread and then have goodness knows how long looking at the thread going on with "done" endless times followed by "I was picked" "product arrived" and so on!! It is very annoying Envy (oops I mean Angry honest!)

@Psammead: Sorry to hear you're not happy with the bookmark feature, anything we can do to improve it? Your idea of having a link in TIO sounds like it could be useful, but I'll have to see how easy this is to implement.

@BigBadMummy: Bookmarks are related to your user account and are stored server-side, we don't store anything on your computer with regards to the bookmark feature. If you're browsing sensitive threads though, I'd recommend using private browsing, if your web browser supports it. That way nothing can be stored that might later identify where you've been.

@LowRegNumber: This is a feature that has been brought up before, but it would mean a lot of work on Threads I'm On as the way they work is completely different to Threads I'm Watching, and it is not a huge priority to do this at the moment.

BBM are you talking about the mumsnet bookmarking or browser bookmarking? This shouldn't leave any more traces than your history already does.

BertieBotts · 11/03/2011 13:31

Low you can hide a thread and that removes it from threads I'm On as well.

Psammead · 11/03/2011 13:31

Damian - thanks for the reply. Not sure there is anything to be done to improve it. Maybe the problem I have with it is that it is not very visible? I forget it's there, to be honest. And I think it's one of those things that people either utilise a lot or not at all.

Oh does it bertie? Thank you - it didn't used to work like that but it is a good solution.

Thanks for the reply Damiantech!

BTW, is bookmarking only available in new-fangled MN? I have never seen it on classic/dinosaur edition!

DamianTech · 11/03/2011 13:48

@Psammead: It's always a toss-up between making something obvious and making it unobtrusive, but I think you're right in that it's a feature either used very often, or not at all.

@LowRegNumber: It is indeed only available for Mumsnet New, and does not work for IE 6 or below.

BertieBotts · 11/03/2011 13:49

I can't remember when they changed it but yes it works now :)

I think bookmarking is only on MN new. I find it very visible - but then I like to hold my mouse pointer vaguely on what I'm reading to keep my place. If you didn't move your mouse you probably wouldn't notice it as much.

Psammead · 11/03/2011 13:57

I am on an iPad. I have to stroke a post lovingly to get the bookmarking option Grin

Right, you are all determined to drag me out of the dark ages aren't you? Grin
