and it can't be the Wine because i drank all that last night.

what should there be? i only have a 'latest post' which means i now have some really old nonsense at the top and not my recent twaddle.

Mine hasn't worked for ages. I gave up on it. :(

AtYourCervix · 25/02/2011 11:15

i haven't clicked or tampered with my normal settings it's gone weird all on it's own.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 25/02/2011 11:23

Yup, here too. Gone weird again. Can you just leave it alone for the love of Moses?

DamianTech · 25/02/2011 11:25

Hi AtYourCervix,

There have been some behind-the-scenes changes happening on Threads I'm On lately, but for me it's mostly working correctly as far as I can tell.

There's a new option on the Customise page (near the bottom) that lets you choose the default sorting option for TIO. If you don't touch the drop-down box on the page then this will be what you see by default.

Currently it seems that the drop-down doesn't update itself properly based on this option, so it may say "Most recently active" but will actually be showing "My latest post" because that's what you've got it set to in Customise.

If you want to change the sorting, either change the option in Customise, or you can simply click on the one you want in the drop-down list, although if you have the issue I just mentioned, you'll need to sort by "My latest post" first, then go back to "Most recently active". Hopefully that'll get fixed soon-ish.

Jeeez that is such a bloke way of doing stuff. like wiring a plug or flatpack furniture - far far more complicated than it ever has to be.

"If you want to change the sorting, either change the option in Customise, or you can simply click on the one you want in the drop-down list"

Do you mean that there should also be a drop down list on Threads I'm On?

DamianTech · 25/02/2011 11:38

It wasn't actually coded by a bloke. Shock

And wiring a plug is easy! Brown is a nice earthy colour, so that goes to Earth. Green and yellow are lively colours so they go to Live. And blue is a nice neutral colour so that goes to Neutral. Wink

*Disclaimer: Don't actually wire a plug this way, unless you want to explode something!

it's very broken.

i changed it in customise back to my latest post first which worked but as an experiment just clicked the sort by button at the top of the list of 'threads i'm on' - it swapped around to the anyone's latest posts option without changing the wording.

OP posts:
DamianTech · 25/02/2011 11:39

@ShowOfHands: It should just be on the right hand side at the top of the list. You can use that to choose or set a default option in Customise.

~D

AtYourCervix · 25/02/2011 11:40

and it still said sort by my latest post in customise - even though it wasn't.

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 25/02/2011 11:43

Right hand side at the top of what list?

The option of setting the default option in customise is fine. On Threads I'm On there's only an option for 'latest post'. It's on the left hand side above the list of threads I'm on. Just wondered if I'm missing something entirely.

AtYourCervix · 25/02/2011 11:46

mine's the same.

OP posts:
DamianTech · 25/02/2011 11:50

Hi ShowOfHands,

There should be a small box on the right, see this screenshot (highlighted in yellow). You can use that to change the sorting in the page, though there is currently an issue with it displaying the wrong sort by default (it always shows Most recently active when you first load it, even if you choose My latest in Customise). Hopefully that issue will be sorted soon.

AtYourCervix · 25/02/2011 11:55

nope not got one of those.mines on the laft and only says Sort by: Latest post

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 25/02/2011 11:56

Nope. Is that supposed to be Threads I'm On? Looks nothing like that. That is MN New, yes? I'm on classic.

Mines says:

Sort by: Latest Post [NB, not a drop down box, but what looks like a link]

and it's on the left hand side above Threads I'm On.

DamianTech · 25/02/2011 12:06

Ahh, now I see. Blush I'll get someone to fix that as soon as we can.

Hurrah! you've fixed it. Marvelous. Notthat I'm going to go fidling about but I don't like to think other people have more options than i have.

OP posts:
DamianTech · 25/02/2011 14:17

Hi Maryz,

I know you're passionate about the idea, but we do need to balance our time fairly and also (on occasion!) do what we're told with regards to website design. TIO is not written in the same way that TIW is, and it is designed in such a way that to make the list user-manageable would almost mean completely redesigning the page from scratch, which is no easy task.

At the end of the day, we've got to take priorities. If this idea had a large support from the user base we could consider it, but at present it simply doesn't seem worth spending so much of our time re-vamping a page that, for the majority of the site's users, works perfectly well already.

ShowOfHands · 25/02/2011 14:21

Damian, while you're here...

I've noticed in the past couple of days that when you use advanced search, when clicking 'back' onto the list of results, it now shows as 'webpage expired'. It didn't used to do this and it was handy to click back and browse through the search results without having to constantly reload.

Is this something you have done or is it my browser?

AdamTech · 25/02/2011 14:26

@Maryz

I know I'm boring Blush, but why is "Threads I'm On" not manageable like "Threads I'm Watching" with the bump and reset and delete options?

I can say that Threads I'm On is intended to show you all of the threads that you're actually, well... on, and being able to remove threads from that list would sort of go against the idea!

DamianTech · 25/02/2011 14:33

@ShowOfHands: Which browser are you using? It may ask you to resend the details in order to view the results again, but it shouldn't come up as page expired (at least, it doesn't for me, but maybe I'm doing something wrong...).

~D

ShowOfHands · 25/02/2011 14:51

IE7.

It says

"Webpage has expired

Most likely cause:
?The local copy of this webpage is out of date, and the website requires that you download it again.

What you can try:
Click on the Refresh button on the toolbar to reload the page. After refreshing, you might need to navigate to the specific webpage again, or re-enter information. "

I can get it to resend the info and that's fine but it's clunky and annoying and never used to do it. It did if you went back one further (to the advanced search page) but it used to be nice to just click back and browse through your search results without having to refresh/retry all the time.

Didn't know if there was a reason why it was suddenly doing it.

simpson · 25/02/2011 15:33

was just coming on here to start a thread about the same thing, my threads i'm on not working either Sad
