Zoom not working right on android

JollySergeantJackrum · 23/02/2011 21:33

This has just happened today.

When I go into a thread I normally zoom in so the text is readable. Normally the text then moves so that it is all on my screen and I don't have to scroll sideways to read any of it. Today the text is not moving when I zoom, so if I zoom in too far I have to move sideways to see the end of each line.

Is it just my phone that's broken or has the site changed?

Bump

I second this. It's making talk almost unusable on my HTC desire. Text used to resize to fit screen as you zoomed in and out, now it doesn't.

JollySergeantJackrum · 24/02/2011 11:29

Phew, it's not just me!

P.S. other sites are working fine, so it's not the version. I'm running Android 2.2, with browser Webkit 3.1.

silverfrog · 24/02/2011 11:35

yes, happens on my phone too (htc desire, android 2.2)

been happening for a few days now - maybe since the weekend?

JollySergeantJackrum · 24/02/2011 11:41

I have an HTC desire too. No idea what spec though :/

Maybe it was since the weekend, thinking about it I probably haven't been on MN for a couple of days, but I just noticed it yesterday.

Same happening to me (Android 2.2 on HTC Desire - anyone here not have one?!). I only noticed it two days ago.

Hello - thanks for telling us about this. We'll take a look.

commanderprimate · 25/02/2011 22:40

Ah great. Thanks!

JollySergeantJackrum · 26/02/2011 17:57

Thanks Helen :)

Marking my place. I've never managed to get the site to display in a mobile friendly way....

Is there a mobile option I need to tick to use m'net from my android? Or should my browser automatically display the site in mobile view? I have a samsung galaxy android phone. Thanks.

catinthehat2 · 01/03/2011 22:04

I was moaning about exactly this on the twitchy text thread.

Also, on the non mobile site, active convos doesn't appear until below the ads - ie a huge tennis court of white space on the LH side of the screen, then active convos at the bottom

I think someone has been fiddling with some knobs & switches.

GeraldineMumsnet · 01/03/2011 23:04

catinthehat2, no, no fiddling, honest. Was a certain thread title that mucked things up. Should be fine now though.

Househunter · 02/03/2011 08:36

I have been having the same problem as OP for the last few days. HTC Desire here too. Please let us know if it can be sorted as it is making chat pretty unusable from my phone.

catinthehat2 · 02/03/2011 08:45

Hm thanks Geraldine.
Make sure it never happens again........

DamianTech · 02/03/2011 10:45

@NotAnotherNewNappy: The mobile site is m.mumsnet.com, currently there is no automatic redirection in place. Most likely there will be a button near the top of the (non-mobile) home page that, if you are using a mobile client, allowing quick access to the mobile site should you wish to use it.

NotAnotherNewNappy · 02/03/2011 12:10

Thanks DamianTech - that's great, except I'll never be off the site now Grin

commanderprimate · 04/03/2011 19:36

Hi there. 'Fraid the problem seems to have returned - it was ok until today, but now I'm experiencing horizontal scrolling on recent _chat threads again.

catinthehat2 · 04/03/2011 19:38

moi aussi

JollySergeantJackrum · 18/03/2011 08:18

Bump as this is still not working right.
