Hi, Just to say hello, and thanks to Admin for sorting out my registration. As a bloke I feel a little awkward at joining a site called "Mumsnet" but there's so much useful stuff here I just had to. I'm a 53 year old father of 2 gorgeous boys, 3 years and 3 months. Cheers.

hi

there is a \link{http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/dadsnet\dadsnet} topic too Grin

BecauseImWorthIt · 13/02/2011 15:56

Welcome!

There are plenty of men on here, not all with identifiably 'dad' or male names. Just get stuck in.

(Go careful on AIBU and the feminist threads, until you get the measure of the place, though.)

yogididabooboo · 13/02/2011 16:00

welcome.

jump straight in and don't feel the need to apologise for being a bloke. you are just as welcome a part of the community as anyone else.

and ignore anyone that says anything to the contrary

UnquietDad · 13/02/2011 16:01

Hello Norman. Good few of us here. Just join in. Don't feel you have to stick to Dadsnet... but yes, mind out for those Feisty Feminists, and get the feel of the place before you start weighing into arguments!

TrillianAstra · 13/02/2011 16:04

Everyone should go careful on AIBU, not just men!

Some useful tips here

Some acronyms here - if there's another acronym that someone uses and you don't know just ask, but beware it might be something gynaecology and/or conception-related.

BeenBeta · 13/02/2011 16:05

Welcome.

Yes there are loads about 35 regular male posters on MN and about 35,000 women.

Not all the men have identifiable 'man' or 'dad' names but it doesn't matter. Just join in. You might get a bit of attitude from some female posters because you are a man but very rarely. Anyway, you can name change if you want to post in a sensitive topic area or just want to be anonymous.

You dont have to stick to Dadsnet (which is after all just one very slow and quiet Topic area within the vast panoply of MN.

I am a man by the way. Smile

Please don't feel awkward about it, there's others about (as you've already seen on this thread) and we're normally pretty welcoming. If you're posting about something where your gender seems relevant, then it's probably polite to mention it, but other than that do just jump in and chat/ask/suggest as you see fit!

Personally, I like it when men on here have names which I recognise as male, because my default assumption tends to be that people are female until proved otherwise, but that's just me, and I certainly don't feel annoyed if I later find out my assumption was wrong - because it's my fault for assuming, not the poster's fault for not mentioning it.

Nooo! Leave now.....whilst you still can, with any vestige of sanity you can claim...before the quicksand that is MN gets you.....it's....your...last.........chance....

kidding.{smile].

just get stuck in. Bloke here btw.

Pan · 13/02/2011 19:46
