Sexual Abuse within the family Research?

Lidais · 24/01/2011 16:17

I am new to this forum and have no wish to upset or offend.
It has been just over three years since my beautiful eldest daughter revealed she had been abused by my father over a period of 6 years. We, as a family unit, have been to hell and back with police,Crown Court, family disbelief and social exclusion.
I now want to turn our experience into a form of help for those people going through a simialr nightmare. I also want to give as much information as I can to try and break the social taboo that surrounds such abuse. It happens in all social groups and 'classes' yet it is often the victim that is made to feel ashamed.
A group such as this is a powerful tool with a powerful voice.
I would like to write a book to help others in this position not to feel so dreadfully isolated and frightened, as we were.
I would like to ask whether I would be allowed to ask others of their experiences (via private mail) in order to compile some research other than my own experience.
I hope I do not offend anyone with this request.

Hi Lidais,

Welcome to Mumsnet.
We're sure there are Mumsnetters out there who would consider being case studies for you.
Rather than PMing individuals, you are very welcome to start a thread asking for volunteers.
Please put your request in the Media Requests section here

Good luck with finding the people you need!
