a sahm section?

I have noticed that there are areas for working mums, careers, child care and such, but no section for sahm mums. Is it a possibility? I don't know if there is enough interest Blush

To discuss what exactly?

I'm a SAHM but I really don't see the need.

I thought it might be nice to have a place to meet other people who have gone this route. Around here, being a sahm is rare, and I wondered if that was the case over there too. I can see it is not really on anyone elses radar, so I will just enjoy the other threads on the go Smile

Oh right! Yes, SAHMs are a rare breed where I am too, in fact I don't know any at all IRL. It can be pretty isolating IME.

If you want to meet SAHMs IRL then maybe try MNlocal, otherwise you could always start a SAHP chat thread (in Chat would probably be best). There are plenty of SAHP on MN, you're certainly not alone here.

I would like a sahm section too as I am a little nervous of posting certain things sometimes as i have been attacked for being a sahm on here in the past, it would be nice to have an area where that wouldnt happen so i could post.

SoupDragon · 22/01/2011 11:42

Good lord no.

"it would be nice to have an area where that wouldnt happen so i could post."

Um... that is a little naive IMO. :o MNers aren't known for sticking to "their" topics!

Fernie3 · 22/01/2011 11:44

Good point i dont know what happened there....my mind must have entered skme sort of parallel universe Grin i will have to stick to avoiding all topics that may make feel -> :( lol

I'm all for specific sections of mn for people in some sort of smaller group (eg large families, SN etc) who need/like each other's support and/or share like experiences the rest of mn won't get. But a sahm section I think would be too divisive.

What about the pt workers, where do they go? are they allowed a foot in both camps or do we need a specific topic for them?

fwiw I thought sahms were in the majority on mn
