Attack page??

stnikkilarse1978 · 22/12/2010 08:13

I just clicked on a thread (one in relationships called 'DP is on a work night out' and the screen came up red with a message saying this is a Mumsnet attack page. I quickly clicked back out of it worried it was some sort of virus so didn't read the small print.

What's all this about? Please tell me I haven't infected my PC!

Take a look at this - switching browsers may help but I'm not clicking past any warning pages til this is sorted out. You haven't infected your PC.

KellyBronze · 22/12/2010 08:21

I am getting the same message on several pages I have clicked on.

I am not planning to ignore them.

SantasNutellaFairy · 22/12/2010 08:24

so if you don't click past a warning screen you don't get infected. Is that right? I'm not "techy" at all and DH normally deals with this stuff.Blush

tribpot · 22/12/2010 08:35

I'm pretty sure nothing will happen to you even if you do click past a warning page. But I'm not going to take that risk.

Longtinsellyjosie · 22/12/2010 08:36

I've got this as well - have sent a message to MNHQ. I wonder if they've got virus problems...

SantasShinyBaubles · 22/12/2010 08:38

I got that when i clicked on a thread in parenting 'i was so ashamed of my children today'...strange

ForFestiveSake · 22/12/2010 08:41

I've had it with several AIBU threads but more worryingly I just got it when I tried to click on my 'I can't cope' sleep thread - I started that thread and certainly didn't install an attack page! I'm upset - but not THAT pissed off!

Longtinsellyjosie · 22/12/2010 08:43

Look at tribpot's link to NetworkGuy's thread - he explains what's going on...

Grandhighpoohba · 22/12/2010 11:33

So, is Mumsnet infected by a virus?

CatherineMumsnet · 22/12/2010 11:37

Hi all, yes, there is some kind of problem. We think it's to do with a suspect ad.

We're on the case - and hopefully, all will be back to normal very soon.

Thanks so much for alerting us!

YetMoreTech · 22/12/2010 12:27

The problem has been solved, but the warnings remain (until Google revisit and give it the all clear).

stnikkilarse1978 · 22/12/2010 12:43

So can we click to ignore when we get these warnings with no problems to our PCs?
