My MN just went very strange indeed

I followed a link on a thread (linked to another MN discussion) and it was bloody weird.

It was MN. There was a MN logo floating mid screen. There was a little anaemic looking box to post in and then some tiny font and some squashed smilies gathered in the corner. The colours were all a bit vulgar and nothing was where it was supposed to be. And an odd banner with something written in it about lego. I'm thinking it was an attempt at an advert but with nothing to recommend it at all.

And then right at the bottom a 'view standard MN' button that took me back to the MN homepage as if it had never happened.

Now if I click on the link again, it does the same thing.

What's all that about, eh?

Is it MN new? It has bookmarks on it. I don't use MN new, I don't have bookmarks. Little blue boxes all over it with 'bookmark' scrawled in them.

I don't want MN new. I'm getting very suspicious about what's happening here.

It's odd. There's an 'add message' 'back to top' and summat else under every post.

What is it? Where is it taking me?

I would think the link is to the mobile website - does it have m.Mumsnet in the address bar?

It is the mobile website! But why is it coming up on my pc? I've never used a mobile to access the internet.

Would a strawberry yoghurt be better cat? Or a chocolate mousse? Otherwise it's a pickled onion. Or you could look away.

So if I post a link to a thread from the mobile site on my iPhone, does it go back to the mobile site?

Yes, that's the mobile site. It's weird. Probably isn't weird on an iPhone (whatever the heck one of those is, I still don't get it).

Every so often I click on a thread and find the entire thread written in bold.........

There's one in Money Matters (about JSA at Christmas) that it did it to me on.
