Is there a way of including a 'tab' character or using a Monospaced font so that columns line up correctly?

Gosh, this is a new one! Anyone else think it would be useful?

definitely - if anyone is comparing a list of items, then a monospaced font option would really help.

I know some boards allow for tables to be included (which is perhaps a lot more work on the input checking) but to have a 'pre' function (as in HTML 'preformatted' tag) would just be copied into the output and let the viewer's browser do the work.

'Preview' would show the poster how it looks and the onus would be on them to insert enough spaces.

Just like the OP, I could have done with this today on this post (and would have added much more info if there had been monospaced font

Oh yes, it would definitely be useful.
