If you did you might get more subs and sell more books

Worldpay doesn't accept my card and it is really frustrating, but I know that lots of external processors sdo because Twinkle Twinkle uses an external one (HSBC i think) and i can use my card on there.

lol - I know the feeling - even sodding Tesco doesn't take it (stupid Halifax changed their cardcash card from a solo (that I could use almost anywhere) to Electron - which is cr*p

colditz · 15/09/2005 21:43

Our Tesco takes my electron card, QOQ, stupid Halifax, I was soooo cross when they did that! I liked my solo card!

You might be able to push it through on Visa, i have managed to do that on a few websites

QueenOfQuotes · 15/09/2005 22:13

colditz - I meant Tesco.com - not Tesco - 'offline' is fine - but online is cr*p for Electron.

GeraldGiraffe · 16/09/2005 13:38

qoq- yes i had to stop bloody aving my shopping delivered because halid=fax decided to update it!

no i think it is more likely to be guaranteed payment, because i used to be naughty when i was a student with a Switch and use my card when i didn't have any money
but it hardly ever checked.
I know that my electron checks everytimee.

well you cant pay for something with electro0n if you haven't got any money, so thats pretty guarateed to me. I find beautiful things to buy online and then get to the checkout and cant pay, its soooo annoying.

Mytwopenceworth · 16/09/2005 16:23

Oh god I HATE this!! Lets start an Electron Awareness campaign!! Half the bloody country doesn't take it and it is SUCH a bugger when it's the only card you've got!

WHY WHY WHY? Does it cost more than other cards? I can't see anything on it that is different from any other card. I am sick of trying to pay for stuff only to be told sorry, we don't take electron. Mostly a problem over the internet or telephone, more shops now tend to accept it, but still nowhere near all of them!

zippitippitoes · 16/09/2005 16:25

Just curious have you tried paying with electron and solo, because they may be processed if you select Visa

Streamline, one of the biggest card processors accepts solo and electron, but there isn't necessarily a listing separately

GeraldGiraffe · 16/09/2005 16:26

I ALWAYS try to sneak it past in Visa but MN won't accept it.

Or how about this fgor a solution- you could try offering Paypal as an option for subs payments?

Mytwopenceworth · 16/09/2005 16:28

Emailed mn towers recently to suggest just this, GG!!

GeraldGiraffe · 16/09/2005 16:29

which, the paypal or the changing to a less crap processor?

zippitippitoes · 16/09/2005 16:40

Worldpay can process Electron cards but only if Mumsnet have the means to do it, don't know why they wouldn't be able to, I'm afraid
or you have to ask you card issuer to enable your electron card for internet use if you find it doesn't work online anywhere

Mytwopenceworth · 16/09/2005 16:41

GG - paypal

GeraldGiraffe · 16/09/2005 16:47

it does work online but just not on certain annoying websites.

"Just curious have you tried paying with electron and solo, because they may be processed if you select Visa "

Solo works and has done for ages, but Visa Electron is cr*p.
