how do you take a screen shot please?

I have something odd going on with my threads I'm on - how can I take a shot of it? Please in simple steps, I am rubbish at these things - thankyou

On my Mac I highlight what I want to take a copy of and press Alt, Ctrl and P and then paste it onto a word document.

I have a print screen button on the top row of my keyboard, next to the F keys. So I press that and then insert it where I want it and crop.

Ah I have a prt scrn button too, thankyou so much! Not a Mac here but

prt scrn button makes cursor flash momentarily, then nothing happens...?

Yep now go to word or somewhere and do a paste.
