I suspect I'm going to regret this. If someone posts something in a "I need to let off a random bit of steam" kind of way (as opposed to a "I think x would you like to debate it with me" kind of way) and you disagree with the cause of their need to vent, do you
a) tell her she's wrong wrong wrong even when several other people have already expressed the same view
b) gently point out she could look at it differently, your purpose being that seeing it differently might help her or
c) just don't post.
sorry but I personally go for b or c and I think whatsername on the clothing thread got a bit of a hard time

Don't think that notelling was a picked-upon angel by a long, long way!

munz · 01/09/2005 16:46

Boring! The original poster is either a changeling or a troll so was either stirring or expected a bashing.

her intent was not clear from her first post though - that came out later, and yes, was a bit out of order. I'm glad though that I seem to have got 20-odd responses, and no-one has told me outrightly to bog off

can I be coatstand?

hatstand · 01/09/2005 16:50

Deserved everything she got. Especially after saying she'd changed her name because she thought "smug mum" might post on MN.

Fio2 · 01/09/2005 16:56

who the hell is notelling?

crystaltips · 01/09/2005 16:58

FOr a while I was getting rather "bored" with all the arguing on MN ( this was just before the summer) so I didn't mind staying away for while ....
Not that surprised that the back-biting is still about though

Nightynight · 01/09/2005 17:05

I dont see anything wrong with the clothes thread. actually I thought it was quite funny. I think people should say what they think and not just be polite. but not go ott or be personally offensive.

hunkermunker · 01/09/2005 17:07

hatstand.......bog off
