How about a "rant" topic?!

I sometimes want to log on and just type out a rant to get it off my chest. Various things - some directly MN related, some not. I often think twice about posting as it seems v self-indulgent but I normally feel better for letting it all out.

If we had a rant topic, then anyone choosing to read would know it was going to be a bit self indulgent and we could still let off steam!

I love it....

My first rant would be about baby 'rules'! My daughter has just been told by her midwife that SWADLING IS NOT ADVISED anymore. Based on What? What evidence have they dug up. Have they looked at most babies in the 3rd world ..... none die from being swaddled!

You poor mums have more rules now than I am sure you can cope with. Weaning, potty training, dummies, etc etc. It's a wonder you don't have nervous breakdowns.
RANT OVER........ OVER TO YOU.

Nannytwotimes - I'm glad I'm not alone Grin
You are so right about all the rules and expectations placed on mums.

My rant today would be people who try to control others. So wrong! I experienced an example yesterday that made me so angry!!

And breathe!!!

TrillianAstra · 23/08/2010 16:34

I find going to AIBU and finding the people who just want a rant good for letting off steam. Grin

rantrantrant

YABU

I only wanted to rant

Well done't ask us if you are being unreasonable then because you ARE!

essenceofSES · 23/08/2010 20:40

TheLadyoftheGreenKirtle - that's exactly it!

TrillianAstra - that is v good for letting off steam but what if you're the person that wants to rant?!

A rant topic would be brilliant!

(Along with the etiquette topic I suggested. Are you listening MN towers?)

whomovedmychocolate · 23/08/2010 20:44

I just use chat and entitle my threads appropriately e.g.

GAH! Bloody sodding Sainsbury

Or

RANT: No I will not mind your artichoke grrrr!

I don't want them sticking around in three years when I've realised what an arse I'm being Grin

OliviaMumsnet · 23/08/2010 20:45

Lynette (you're my fave Desp Housewife btw)
etiquette for you
Howzat?!

TrillianAstra · 23/08/2010 20:55

So could anything that one might want to rant about be classed under etiquette? 'I think xxxxx is very rude' etc?

LynetteScavo · 23/08/2010 20:56
Grin

THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

I feel I have changed the world in one small way! Smile

And You are my favourite Mumsnet Queen, Olivia. Grin

Sycophancy is appallingly WC Lynette Wink

AlgebraRocksMySocks · 23/08/2010 21:05

I would LOVE a rant topic. my rants wouldn't usually be anything to do with etiquette! somebody suggested rant room which I think is a good name.

hint hint.

:o

essenceofSES · 23/08/2010 21:49

I agree, my rants are normally far from etiquette related! I like rant room

I don't think it would be a good idea - wouldn't we be in danger of crashing the interweb with high numbers of hormonal rants Grin.
