MNHQ - its about deleting messages

bibbitybobbityhat · 24/07/2010 20:25

Do you automatically delete a message if someone reports it and says they are offended by it?

I have had a few messages deleted and, really, I do my utmost not to be offensive or swear directly at people. I think the people who report my messages most be incredibly precious over-sensitive little flowers.

You never seem to contact us naughty ones to tell us that our offensive message has been deleted either.

Am NOT happy .

What have you been saying, bibbity? You can insult me if you like, and I promise not to report you.

bibbitybobbityhat · 24/07/2010 21:16

I can't remember boffy!

I was looking for a recent thread of mine and saw that a message had been deleted off a thread I was on a few weeks ago. It can't have been that offensive.

Btw, did I ever tell you I love you fucking loads you @£\&^$£.

onepieceoflollipop · 24/07/2010 21:17

onepieceoflollipop · 24/07/2010 21:23

Hah report me if you like. See my new thread:

"bibbity is horrible and she wears smelly pants"

whomovedmychocolate · 24/07/2010 21:23

I do agree they should tell you - how the hell are you to know what's offensive if no-one mentions it.

onepieceoflollipop · 24/07/2010 21:23

btw lulu once got reported for being "barftastic" iirc. She was that she was deleted!

whomovedmychocolate · 24/07/2010 21:25

I quite like barftastic!

OP posts:
BoysAreLikeDogs · 24/07/2010 22:05

[vague memory]

IMoveTheStars · 24/07/2010 22:23

TWUNT!

[runs and hides]

RachelMumsnet · 24/07/2010 22:27

We don't automatically delete posts if they are reported, we take a look and make the decision whether it breaks any of our rules (illegal, a personal attack, racist or 'beyond the pale') sometimes it's a tough call as there's a v thin line between something being acceptable and not but we do try as far as possible to be fair whilst allowing freedom of speech to prevail.

We don't mind the odd 'Arse' and as for 'Barftastic'? we positively encourage such words

PurplePillow · 24/07/2010 22:30

Excellent I will use 'Barftastic' at every oppertunity then

RachelMumsnet · 24/07/2010 22:32

By the way, if there is a particular post that you're unhappy we've deleted Bibbity, can you report it and we'll take a look and let you know our reasons. We don't tend to contact every poster about every deletion, or we'd never get away from The Towers..

chaostrulyreigns · 24/07/2010 22:36
