Could you enlighten me to what this error message is about that appears when using mn.

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: www.mumsnet.com/js/se/jquery.js:19

Is it related to an add and will it go away of its on accord? its driving me mad!

Any tech out there?

jQuery is a library function, so not something that Tech will have written.

So, it may go away on it's own accord or if you are getting the error on a specific page, then it may be something wrong with that specific page.

When do you get the error? What are you trying to do when it occurs and on what page URL?

MumAlwaysKnows · 21/07/2010 20:10

on various pages on here, changing between pages and opening mn to I'm on etc.

I can't duplicate the error using IE or Chrome. So unclear as to what is causing it.

What web browser are you using?

Have you tried logging out of Mumsnet, then logging back in again? I'm wondering if it's a cookie related issue - logging out and logging back in should refresh the mumsnet cookie which keeps track of things so you can use I'm On.

ArmedAndDangerous · 21/07/2010 20:21

yep, tried logging out logging back in, clearing history.

Using firefox.

Oh and still getting it despite name change. tis annoying. But will put up with it if necessary. Closing and opening brouser is part of problem so will retry that and see if it comes up again.

Full reboot of the computer - worth a try - it's the usual Tech Support answer to many questions... have you turned it off and back on again

If you tell the script to keep running, do you notice any problems with anything or is it then fine?

ArmedAndDangerous · 21/07/2010 20:46

yep it has been happening for days.

last time i tried it crashed fire fox and froze the computer. had to pull the plug out of the wall to get computer so i could use it. it is puzzling me. grabbing early night but will retry letting it run tomo and see what happens.

thanks!

nannynick · 21/07/2010 20:48

I've just tried using FireFox and I don't get any errors... so not sure what it can be though suspect it's something to do with your system rather than the website itself. Though what I have no idea.

Maybe Tech or others will be along with some ideas.

Hi sorry to miss this, I'll find out what's going on.

JJ · 21/07/2010 21:10

MAK - some versions (earlier than 3.5 or 3.6) don't play nicely with some of the jQuery stuff. If you have an earlier version, try upgrading - it'll make your whole internet experience lovelier.

FF homepage
Find version.

ArmedAndDangerous · 22/07/2010 14:46

Weirdly enough no errors today.

Its started with javascript errors which was why i suspected that it could be an ad.

I dont think the version of fire fox is early as i only installed it in roughly may and it has upgraded itself since then.

very odd.

thanks for the suggestions.
