Will MN work without Shockwave ?

I keep getting browser alerts that Shockwave is not working, and do I want to stop it.

I'm seriously considering removing Shockwave from my PC, since none of my own sites need it, but wonder what parts of the pages need it?

I assume it might be something like the Twitter feed, but don't know. I may just use my firewall to limit whether certain items are loaded (I assume I can block loading anything about Twitter) though it's a bit of a pain to check and then remove.

Perhaps there's another way if user preferences could have a tick box for displaying Twitter or not, as I've seen some other past threads saying that there's limited interest in ing Twitter info on view.

I do not have shockwave and it works.

Hi NG, Everything should work OK without shockwave. You might get slightly different versions of some ads. None of mumsnet itself uses shockwave. The twitter box isn't shockwave or flash, it's just html and a bit of javascript.

OK, thanks both for clarifying.

I'll do something myself to kill the Twitter feed from dispaying then.

If you block the twitter website with your browser it vanishes.
