A bit slow?

I'm having real trouble getting MN talk to load. I have ADSL and every other page I go to loads really fast, but MN just kinda hangs....for ages. And then times out.

Anyone else?

Tech, is talk growing under the weight of us clicking F5? Are there too many active threads? It is getting so fustrating!!!!!

Um... no problems here but I go straight to talk, bypassing the homepage.

yep, I've had a prob getting into the MN home page for a couple of days, but no prob going straight to Talk.

Sorry didn't make myself clear, its not the homepage I'm having problems with, its when I click on the title of a thread or post. Especially when I post, the whole thing just times out.

And I keep trying other sites and this is the only one doing it.

Very slow again tonight here too. Thought it had improved since last week but looks like it's going downhill again. Hope tech can sort it out though.

Problem I think is sheer volume of postings on talk - Tech said this last weekend:

We've made some changes over the weekend that should help with the speed of talk. I'd be interested to hear if people find it any better...

Longer term we are going to have a system of archiving threads once no-one has used them for a month or two. They'll still be searchable, just not in the main lists - this should help further but will take a bit of time...

...obviously his short-term changes haven't helped that much. Planning to do the archive thing in December, so hopefully will be much improved after that. In the meantime many thanks for your patience!
