Pizza Hut - a nice surprise!

Just took DH and 3DSs out to Pizza Hut as a friend had been recently and said it was better than she expected. Usually Pizza Express aficionados but we had a BOGOF voucher and thought it was worth a shot. DH was a bit sniffy at the prospect but it was really good - service was excellent, food good (enough - certainly better than I expected) and boys loved it. DSs had pizza, pasta and fish wraps and each liked them plus they got a little bowl to fill themselves from salad bar and all-you-can-drink squash and juice, for £3.50 each. Then DS age 8&5 added ice cream factory for £1 each (as did DH - less sniffy by now!) and 2yr old had a pure fruit ice lolly. I had a Tuscani which was thin, crispy and fresh tasting. Girl serving was charming - pointed out we could get a free pizza for each ordered so might want to do that instead of kids meals when we ordered (we didn't but I like someone pointing out value options!), and when the kitchen did the fish with wedges instead of wraps she spotted it and brought the wedges over saying he should nibble on this until the kitchen heated up the wraps. Anyway - just looked for others' experiences and there's not much since 2003 and then it's all horror stories. Have they generally upped their game or is the Dunstable branch an anomaly? Also spotted they do a make-your-own-pizza party for kids at £6.99 Inc salad, drinks and other bits - has anyone tried it? Sounds like a good deal.

I've also been to Pizza Hut recently and been surprised by the price, quality and service. Definately upped their game.

The menu has been expanded to include more pasta, chicken and salad options which suits us as my DH doesn't like pizza! Weirdo.

Those thin pizzas with the rocket etc are fantastic. Wouldn't go if I didn't have the children with me but much better than most of those 'family' chains.

Doesn't like pizza? V strange! Good to have decent choice though. I agree - my 'Tuscani' was delicious! It's lovely that they're getting their act together - I think a lot if people feel quite fond of brands like this that we grew up with - hope it carries on.

Yes they do seem to have improved recently, although they are a bit overkeen on the 'balsamic dressing', which was squirted all over my garlic mushrooms in a style reminiscent of 'gcse class studies pollock'
