GLTC drawers/toy units, are they really good? Are they worth the money you pay?
Please tell me what you think?
Thank you

Do you mean the northcote units?
Yes they changed my life in storage terms {loser} for my playroom.
Much better than Trofast which is the standby MN system of choice I understand.
What I like is that the stacking parts can be broken down and used as shelves around the house when you don't need a massive storage bit any more.
Are they worth the dosh? no more than any more overpriced flatpacks (i.e. most new furniture available today)
GOod luck whatever you decide though.

Thank you. Im not keen on Trofast, we have raftan chest of 2x drawers and after 3 years of abuse they look rather tatty. I regret not getting Lazzari units from GLTC. Friend got similar unit from Argos for less money. Makes me wonder if they are good quality.
Ds is soon 3, and we are hoping to get downstairs back. Are the Northcote as good as they recommend, can you interchange them around to make bigger or smaller units. Ds has got serious collection of cars and trains, some small and some huge.

My issue with the lazzari ones is that they do look a bit nursery school iykwim - whereas the northcote ones are more "bookshelves that may actually not come from a kids catalogue"
As to what they hold, depends how big they are, I have his cars in a box on the shelf but this bit is quite deep and holds quite a lot.

Northcote units are expensive and a bast*rd to assemble - the instructions are a nightmare and GLTC customer service is legendary for being bad and unhelpful ....

Aspace do them as well

Divatheshopaholic · 04/07/2010 18:36

Thank you. I totally forgot about Aspace
I have huge dislike the units that open top or leaned out to show whats inside. Can you get lid or door for Northcote units?
