elastic shoelaces

I'm sure I saw these in GLTC but can't find them now. Wondered if anyone else had seem them anywhere, either mailorder or highstreet.

They are like shoes laces but are coiled elastic so the child can just wrap them around rather than have to tie them. I hate velcro straps as they always get full of dog hair and fluff but the shcool complains about laces so these would be ideal. Can anyone help?

i would be interested in these too as my ds1 is autistic and i dont think he will ever tie shoelaces and his feet are growing out of velcro shoes, the choice is so limited too.

Well no-one else seems to know so I've been looking on google. Found a south african company who do them. Help the Aged also do them but they are £7.99 for a pack of 3 in brown, black or white. Not very inspiring. These ones look like ordinary laces but are stretchy. Not the ones I remember originally.

Have just found this company in the US who do the ones I saw orginally in all sorts of colours. They look like fabric springs if that makes sense. Just feel a bit daft ordering from the states! Will keep looking to try to find a colourful UK version.

Emailed the US company below and they ship to the UK all the time. Said just to add $1 to the cost for postage. Think I might give them a go

Just reviving this thread - did anyone ever buy any of the elastic laces? My dd has lace up shoes (tried hard to get others but she's awkward to fit) and although she can tie them, she doesn't do them all that well and they are undone all the time!

No sorry I never got round to it. But I've just had to buy new school shoes for DS and we've had to go for velro again. Was really sad as the lace up boots they have look great so I might give it a go.....

I had elastic laces once for dd2 but they weren't really any use. The elastic was too tight for her to be able to loosen it enough to spread the shoe open so she could get her foot in and out. She was only about 3 or 4 then so I guess an older stronger child might be able to manage them. HTH.
