Travel cot for toddler that folds down small

Can anyone recommend a travel cot for a toddler that will pack away small? Off on a trip in which the car will be packed to its limits!

My DS is not a huge toddler, but I did a search and recent travel cot threads were all about newborns or smaller babies, so thought I would ask what other people use with 1-2 year olds. Thanks.

could you move up to a 'ready bed' yet or do you need him to be 'confined'?

I switched my DS to a blow up Ready Bed (from Argos amongst other places) at about 18-20 months, and know plenty of people who have used them before the age of 2. They are low to the ground so they can't hurt themselves rolling out, but obviously they are not hemmed in in the same way as a cot! Anyway you might want to consider one of those, because they fold down into a sleeping bag sized stuff sack rather than being a big hefty thing like a travel cot, so much more convenient for fitting into a spare corner in the car.

I'd rather keep him 'confined' but will consider the Ready Bed. Any other trad travels cots people like, I'll also look at. Thanks muddleduck and meg

Now that I think about it, at that age I think we just used a matress on the floor.

My DS was so excited about being in a big boy bed that he stayed in it all snuggled up without roaming at all! So your DS may surprise you

IME you get a few nights peace and quiet before it occurs to them that they can roam

If you get a ready bed have some trial runs before you go so that the novelty factor wears off!

EightiesChick · 18/06/2010 15:19

Thanks all - only have 2 nights to do any trial runs and not sure of how problematic it would be if he starts roaming where we are staying! I am still thinking about 'normal' travel cots, if anyone can recommend any? Have looked at the Ready Bed on Argos too.

we use this travel cot, my DD sleeps really well in it (she is 21 months)

We've just got the small one of these for ds second-hand from ebay; they do a bigger size for up to age 4 too. It packs up very small, and just pops up.

We use a ready bed for dd, though.

Thanks everyone. I was still not completely sure about the ready bed option - though at least now I know about it for when DS is older - so have got the NScessity one mentioned by Habbibu. Cheers for all the ideas and comments though.
