Is the original Dyson worth buying? The DC14 Origin? Any experience?

No idea about the original dyson but i have the animal 1 and its fantastic

OnEdge · 06/06/2010 22:43

No but I have a Dyson and I hate it, it is a small cylinder one and sooo heavy and big to cart around, just try it first to make sure.

sharbieinbackofthequattro · 06/06/2010 22:44

We have the grey and green one (its ancient) - its loud, heavy and we keep having to repair parts but it makes the carpet look like new !

iloveasylumseekers · 06/06/2010 22:44

no, hate them. miele all the way.

Ryoko · 07/06/2010 11:00

Whats the point in buying a bagless hoover, my mum couldn't wait to buy a bagged one when they started making them and would never go back to bagless.

I have memories of her waiting until it was raining outside before emptying R2D2 (thats what I used to call it no idea what it was), my DF's mother has an old stand up dyson and she doesn't like it for the same reason my mum hated em all those years ago, 30 years later and they still haven't found a way to stop you getting a face full of dust when you empty em.

OliviaMumsnet · 07/06/2010 11:02

I heart my dyson

liahgen66 · 07/06/2010 11:04

I have a ball and I hate it, hate it , hate it, It's heavy, cumbersome and you can't get under stuff cos of the stupid great ball

I'#ve used it a handful of times since i nagged told dh we needed one and I really wish I'd saved my money, I sweep everything now. Maybe I'll flog it.

YoginiPinkBikini · 07/06/2010 11:06

Awful awful . Buy miele. Or a friendly Henry

ticktockclock · 07/06/2010 11:09

Love, love, love my Dyson. Would never go back to any other hoover.

GooseyLoosey · 07/06/2010 11:10

Don't find that mine is too great at actually sucking anything up at all. Wouldn't get another.

Shodan · 07/06/2010 11:13

No.

Get a lovely Henry. Much more faberoony.

GetOrfMoiLand · 07/06/2010 11:13

No, I hate my godforsaken evil crappy Dyson with a passion.

It is big, heavy, cumbersome, keeps blocking up and when you empty it you get covered in a flurry of grey dust.

I was delighted when it was kicked fell down the staits but the bloody thing carried on working, albeit ineffectually.

DP thinks it is marvellous however. The solution is to never hoover - DP hoovers now. I refuse to use it.

I would rather have a cheap £30 hoover from argos than that ghastly yellow monstrosity.

I cannot exaggerate how much I loathe it.

moaningminniewhingesagain · 07/06/2010 11:16

I have a DC24 and an ancient massive DC01.

Do love the new one, but having tried a Henry recently I would probably get one of those next time.

DastardlyandSmugly · 07/06/2010 11:23

Get a Miele. Our cleaner asked us to get one and they are fantastic.

BuzzingNoise · 07/06/2010 11:25

I had a new Dyson and it was rubbish. I went back to a Henry.

My mum has a henry now, we both find it rather heavy, she hates trying to do the stairs with it.

I think it's probably a good idea to look at how heavy they are before you buy any vacuum cleaner.

I have a morphy Richards premair 2000W and I think it's great.

whooosh · 07/06/2010 11:40

NO,No,No!

Go buy a SEBO and your life will change.Had mine 8rs and not a single proble-sucks like a dream-I truly heart my Sebo and have converted many.

Jamiki · 07/06/2010 11:43

Yes, yes, yes, get a new one or work harder than necessary IMHO.

BelleDameSansMerci · 07/06/2010 11:44

Miele wins hands down (or dust up) IMO...

CMOTdibbler · 07/06/2010 11:46

Get a Miele - we had a Dyson, then an LG, and the Miele wins hands down
