no, we have them. But they clip on and off each time you need them, so they aren't a permanent fixture.

I tend to lower the window a notch so there's some fresh air coming in. but after than they have to stay like it.

And my dc's just bugger about with them anyway and pull all the blind out .

No but you can buy window shades which fit like socks so someone was telling me, so that window can be wound down.

Thanks... I wasn't sure. It says it's got clips at the top but I can't work out if that means you can open the window and refit the suckers on the bottom. DS always wants his window open so I was hoping to find one that meant I could open the window without refitting the blind. The only one I can find is about £25!

This is the one that fits over the whole door frame so that you can open the windows.

I bought a new car last year and specified built-in shades, honestly I was so excited about them I didn't even care what the rest of the car was like.

stripeyknickers, that's the one I saw on Amazon too... the review said they make a lot of noise if you're driving on the motorway as it flaps in the wind, but then I guess if you're driving on the motorway with the window open it's pretty noisy anyway!

windowsox do not make noise because they are tailored to the car.

i bought some for our fiat multipla because the windows are big. I can, without hesitation, say it is the best 25 quid i have ever ever spent- esp considering the sheer number of shades i had bought for my older 2.

only slight issue is that you need to take it off if it rains heavily because you have no visibility and it is dangerous.

I have seen those window socks and thought "WTF??" but now I have seen what they are actually for, despite looking abit naff, I am definatly getting them for the cars! I have spend more than they costs on roller blinds and pop up blinds and what not that they always pull down, or they fall down, or they don't fit and and the sun gets them from the edges. Ta mumsnet [chuffed] (sorry to hijack - I just came over all chuffed)

The window sox are brilliant! We have the Outllok ones and you can open and close the windows no prob. Also the outlook ones have an extra top layer to provide extra guard from the sun and you can lift the bottom edge from inside so the Dc's can still see outside.
