re the pedicure coddy, I've had this one and I'd love anyone who gave me another -

ok my suggestion for gorgeous pressies has to be 'the white company' They're online I think and basically it's stuff like candles, body lotions, slippers, - but all extra special and beautifully packaged. Can't go wrong!

Actually thinking about the Tiffany thing, if you can't afford it. My dh has just bought me a Tiffany cuff from ebay for my birthday. It was really expensive at tiffany £295 but he paid £100 for it. The bean necklaces and traditional bracelets go for a lot less. Another great spa place is the Elemis day spa (v v expensive though). I would be tempted to try to do something different. Book a personal shopper at Selfridges or Harvey Nics and send her (or go to if you can) for a girly treat. Enclose a £50 voucher so she can buy something totally frivolous. Selfridges also have a beauty salon (as do Harvey Nics) so you could do a double whammy beauty treatment and shopping!

It depends on how much you have to spend. I am suggesting things that are pricey - sorry.

Just thought, someone on a thread about spending money on ourselves (I think pie started the thread) mentioned a catalogue called Bliss. This is a fab catalgue with products not found in teh UK, so she'll love that.

Last idea a subscription to Vogue or her favourite magazine, wrapped around a mini bottle of champagne, add a bath bomb or two and you have a pressie that's immediate and continues all year.

PS I love to know you think I'm a product aholic - I don't even live in London anymore, so all my stuff is fantasy!!

I went to the Sanctuary a month ago and I thought they'd just redecorated/cleaned. It was looking OK. I know what you mean though - I thought that the visit before.

When Dh had his 40th last year I sent him to Champneys for the day. He still talks about it now. It was basically "come early and stay late, have a load of treatments and feel totally pampered and relaxed, sir". They do treatments specially for the ladies too. Would she travel out of London? I think they have a branch in London if not.

Agree with nobby, they've been refurbishing the Sanctuary. I had a glance at some of it at the book launch and it's improved since the last time I was there. Didn't look finished though.

I think what I liked about the Sanctuary was the lounging around part in between treatments. and the swing over the swimming pool.

How about a masseuse to come to her house and do a massage (they come with a massage table in tow). My neighbor does them. I haven't tried her yet as I'm too busy moving, but I think she charges £40 for 1hr 15min. Let me know if you want her info.

Definitely something like a manicure, or massage which will be relaxing and self-indulgent, and much nicer when doing it at someone else's expense!
